I have audited an interview show here, marking the interviewer as 'Himself - Host'. Someone has gone through and changed all of them to 'Himself'. Is the further clarification no longer allowed?

Layle: The policy is still that character names with descriptions such as "Himself - Host" are allowed and recommended where appropriate. See https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/guide/characters.

I don't know why the descriptions would have been removed from the credits you submitted. Hopefully the IMDb staff will comment on that.

Hi Layle -

I'm not sure why the credits would have been changed as we do still prefer that 'self' appearances ('Himself' or 'Herself') should be used as the character name and where appropriate, should be followed by a hyphen and a short description of their role in the title.  So the credit listing for "Himself - Host" would be appropriate.

If the credits were recently changed, I would encourage you to submit the credit corrections through our online form so our staff can take a look.
