How are we to best address the cast lists of movies that give credit for a role to an incorrect person?

For example, the end credits of the bilingual Brazilian movie Trash (2014) have one Enrique Diaz as Mr. Sobral (a character who speaks English), but the character is actually played by Michael Nyqvist who is uncredited.

Originally I submitted a cast list update to replace Diaz's name with Nyqvist's but including the attribute "(as Enrique Diaz)" and to add Diaz as a new addition to the cast with the "(credit only)" attribute: 170613-144923-907000. These changes did not go live, so I figured they were probably improper. The second time around, I opted to alter the item for Diaz to include the attribute "(credit only)" and to add Nyqvist as a new addition with the "(uncredited)" attribute: 170710-172059-713000. Only part of the submission went live, and Nyqvist's name was not added. The only way to verify that he is indeed in the movie is to watch it, I'm afraid. It is very unlikely that Diaz just happens to look exactly like Michael Nyqvist, but strangers things have been known to happen. It's also not terribly clear that Diaz even exists (and the name could be an alias). I've decided to resubmit the update: 170725-193649-556000. I hope it is approved.

Anyway, for future reference, what is the best way to approach this? Is it best to leave the cast list alone and instead simply include an item in a movie's goofs section or its trivia section?

Hi Jeorj -

If I understand the issue correctly, "Enrique Diaz" was credited on-screen for the role of "Mr. Sombal", however, he didn't actually play this role, it was played by "Michael Nyqvist" who was not credited on-screen, is that correct?

If so, the update you submitted was correct.  I see that the credit for Mr. Diaz currently lists the "Credit Only" attribute, see here.  However, the 'uncredited' submission for "Michael Nyqvist"
was not accepted because our editors were unable to verify it and need further information/additional evidence.  Do you have a screen grab of a scene where Mr. Nyqvist is performing the role of Mr. Sombal (or other online links to help verify his participation on the film)?

Is this the character you are talking about? If so, I'm afraid you are probably wrong.

Instead, he may well be the Enrique Diaz listed here:

Is there a more-detailed shot of his Diaz's face?

I see. My apologies. Thanks, Peter.

So, what about the answer to the question?

It think Michelle confirmed that it would have been right to edit the cast list. But a goof entry would no doubt also be appropriate.
