Its just think it would be nice to find out that when you did a lotta updates to help IMDB that you would like to deserve credit? I mean fairplay to all that were selected as the top 250 data contributors from 2016.

Ok so what steps do I have to go through to having my name down as one of the top 250 contributors of the year? Sorry I didn't elaborate properly on my post lol.

Irish: It's just a matter of how many "lines" of data a person has contributed to IMDb during the year. While the exact formula for what counts as a line of data is not revealed to avoid having people try to manipulate the results, you can generally assume that if you submit 10 cast members to a film's IMDb listing, you get 10 lines of data.

The 250th most frequent contributor in 2016 had credit for 11,015 lines of data during the year. (See http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/thread/264680445?d=264680470#264680470.) So if you had submitted 11,016 or more lines of data in 2016, you would have been in the top 250.

It's impossible to know how many lines you will need in 2017 to make the top 250. One doesn't receive a running total of how many lines one has already submitted during the year, much less how many lines anyone else has submitted. The only way to find out that information is when Col posts the top contributors of the year on January 1. He will provide you with your number of lines for 2016 and your ranking for the year upon request in that thread (linked in the previous paragraph), as long as you had at least 200 lines, and probably at least for the next week or so.

So the short, albeit not particularly useful, answer to your question is: Submit enough data to IMDb during the year such that no more than 249 other people submit more data than you do during the year.

I hope this helps.
