Laura: What film is it, so we can test this for ourselves?

Also, the order in which the cast should be listed is the order in which their names appear in the credits on screen. See https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/credit-order/G8QZ9QSY5EVKAPNF#.

If the stars are listed first on screen, that's fine, but if for some reason the stars happen to have their names listed later in the credits, then whoever is listed first in the credits should be listed first on IMDb, before the stars.

Yes, the stars are being overshadowed by folks with higher rating.  But I am told you can fix order sometimes, but doesn't seem to be working on this film.  Is it because it's in preproduction? It's a short film.

Laura: Yes, the issue is that the film is listed as still being in pre-production. As stated at https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/filmography-credits/credit-order/G8QZ9QSY5EVKAPNF#:
Please note that order numbers are not honored for projects before they have begun filming; such orders are far too subject to change. In addition, the order numbers will not affect the display of credits until a significant percentage of the credited cast has order numbers.
At this stage, the cast members are listed in order of their StarMeter ranking. There's nothing that can be done about that until the film moves into the production stage and IMDb allows order numbers to be submitted.

I hope this helps.
