What kind of text formatting can I use in my descriptions?
We support some special formatting, including bold, italics, spoilers, quotes and links to IMDb pages using our square bracket syntax. For a full list of tags, see our help page.
Frequently Asked Questions about ListsYou can also use all of the markup for the message board except for the markup code. What kind of text formatting can I use is my descriptions?
We support formatting using [Square Brackets]. We support the same markup that we do in other website features such as our swiki content like the IMDb FAQ.
- italic
- bold
-
Spoilers
(What is a spoiler?)
-
Quotations
- [link]

How do I create a link in one of my descriptions?
You can link to name or title pages using our link markup. For example, here is how you would link to George Clooney's page:You can also create links for any URL:
- Find the URL for George Clooney's IMDb Page: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000123/
- Take the identifier which starts with "nm": nm0000123
- Use our square bracket markup syntax to label your text:
This is a [link=nm0000123]link to George Clooney's IMDb page[/link]- To link to a movie or a TV show, go through the same proccess, but look for the identifier which starts with "tt".
- [link]

Example:
[red] ... [/red]
[green] ... [/green]
You put the color you want in brackets at the start of the text to be colored. Then, at the end of the text to be colored, you put the color in brackets again, but with a slash between the left bracket and the name of the color.
Besides red and green, the other supported colors are blue, orange, black, white, yellow, and purple.
I just tested this myself, and it worked for me.
