How do I delete a credit if I don't have proof that it isn't factual?

I am trying to delete a few credits of films that were wrongfully added to my page for years, with the request being denied every time. I understand you need proof that the credit isn't factual, but if I did not appear in these films then how am I to have proof that I wasn't in them? I have gotten credits removed in the past, so I don't understand why these few are giving me a problem.

Screengrabs of the titles end credits in question sans your participation is all that is required. Unless they are uncredited. Then it is almost impossible.

What if I don't have access to the films?

They have me listed as credited so I figured I would be able to use my word as a personal, factual source to tell IMDb that I was not in them.

They won't take that as proof.
Are you talking about your first few credits? IMDb will wonder why you let these credits go unmentioned for removal for 6+ years. And all of a sudden they are of concern!

Ed Jones, what do you mean "And all of a sudden they are of concern"? She said in her original post that she has been trying for years to delete those credits, with the request being denied every time. If you have such a hard time with basic reading comprehension, you shouldn't even reply. You're just wasting people's time by having them read your insulting replies that don't even make sense.

Talk about comprehension. She did not say she has been try to remove them for years. Read again.

I am trying to delete a few credits of films that were wrongfully added to my page for years, with the request being denied every time.
Nowhere does it say that she has been deleting them for years.
Wake up.

Well, she worded it a bit strangely, but it's obvious what she meant since she said "with the request being denied every time." How is this "all of a sudden" if she tried many times and has been denied every time? I don't know how you are unable to understand that. It's obvious. Read again. Wake up.

Denied every time in the last 30 days? 30 Months? 3 Years? Two weeks?
It is NOT obvious.

but it's obvious what she meant
You have no Idea. You are guessing. And this type of request happens A Lot.
The prerequisite explanation of "If I don't have proof" is usually the first thing that pops up. The second is "I Say So". That is there too in this case.
This is a common request. Actors accept any roles early in their career that they perceive is somehow now causing them loss of work presently. It is a false assumption. So they want it removed regardless of whether or not they were indeed in it. IMDb sees these requests constantly, and they want proof of lack of participation. Also if they had made an immediate request for removal when it was first added, it would have been promptly removed, no questions asked. I have had this happen. There are 30+ active Ed Jones's in the database. Ed Jones (XLIX)
I have had a credit added that was not mine. But it was removed two days later. Not weeks or months or years later.
OK?

Hi, Bobby Hall.

Some editors do personal favors for persons they know somehow or IMDb Champions ask for personally, speculating on vandalism:
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/an-attempt-to-vandalize-gs-user-imdb-page-with-a-title-addit...

but unfortunately, their eyes may be constantly closed to factual data provided with evidence:
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/i-have-credits-incorrectly-posted-to-my-imdb-profile-how-do-i-get-them-removed

In view of the above practice, maybe Kallie Tabor should open a new thread marked as "PROBLEM" and say that her IMDb page is vandalized... or what? Hard to say. It is not normal, but they do as they do, inspiring for extras.

Since you decide to reference me, then my no comment to you is turned off on this one.
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/an-attempt-to-vandalize-gs-user-imdb-page-with-a-title-addit...
You verified my very point. My page had an erroneous credit, and it was gone in two days. Not 2 months. Not 2 Years. We are are own "Lifelock" There is no email being sent when changes are made to ones page. So we as owners or as listed persons of the database must be vigilant on or own. Oh, and NO ONE did me a personal "Favor". Nikolay was "highly upset" that someone would vandalize my page. I was going to delete it but he beat me to it! And started that topic. As usual your speculation lacks facts.

Now the second topic.
https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/i-have-credits-incorrectly-posted-to-my-imdb-profile-how-do-i-get-them-removed

I advised that person to do the same thing that I advised the person here. Provide proof by way of screenshots. Do the labor to prove your point. Well they did not. YOU DID IT. It's not my job nor yours to do all the hard work. You have less info to go on when you take on a task like that. Plus you are formulating extrapolations that may be based on a flawed supposition. Therefor you are making submissions that you can't be sure of.

Also this advice of someone else's credits are on their page, or the similar name theory should not be dangled like a quick patch job either. People will automatically run around the database looking for a person to dump their credits on with a similar name. Then that person comes here saying that those are not their credits. Because of these credit dumps you create a never ending cycle of musical credits. Or pin the credit on the Donkey!!!! This type of bad advice needs to be stopped. I NEVER volunteer the similar name theory for credit relocation. It sends the wrong message. Asking for more information and then determining that a name split is needed after examination would avoid problems.

And please don't sit here and say I called you some name or something MtP.
It has not happened. And sorry if you may not "Get" the language.

If you wonder why your submissions are being rejected, then it is for the flawed logic that you are using when doing submissions.

Cheers
:):)

Ed Jones, if you're saying you don't know if it's been 30 days, 30 weeks, 3 years, two weeks, etc. then why did you say "All of a sudden"? If you don't know how long she's been trying to have the credits removed, then why say that? You act like she just happened to try to remove them a bunch of times and they were denied and then she posted here all of a sudden. Yes, ALL of that happened, "all of a sudden." LOL You know DAMN well it wasn't all of a sudden. You just wanted to say something snarky, which is your M.O.

Bobby Hall, you see what's happening again and again here? There are some people who take all the things personal and prefer to solve the problems on a personal level, addressing personally to others involved. I referenced another problem (no names, no key roles or else) and the way it was solved, plus one more topic where the same issue is not solved but evidence is provided that there are no profession or no particular name for such profession credited in the video sequences of the titles. Those two are general questions, but they are turned into personal.

Facts know no friends, and factual data should be examined objectively but some people prefer the factual data from friends only.

MAthePA, regarding that link you sent about Ed Jones' IMDb page, I don't understand why his credits were removed. Just because they weren't listed on the screen? If that's definitely him in that video, why would his IMDb credit be removed? It's factual information. Why does it matter if it was listed on screen or not? There are plenty of actors who have IMDb credits that say "uncredited."

It sounds like there are mind games being played here. So if Ed Jones' name was listed in the video, then it's okay for it to be on IMDb, but since the alternate name Cliff E was used, then it's not okay? Even when he admits that it is him? This makes no sense. There are plenty of actors who are credited with alternate names but the credit still goes on their main IMDb page, and this is no different.

I appreciate the links, MAthePA, especially the second one. You helped someone remove credits that shouldn't have been added in the first place. That person was lucky that you were able to get screenshots of those credits. If it weren't for that, he might not have been able to remove them. It's a shame that IMDb allows so many credits to be added with literally no evidence, and if they're incorrect and the person wants them removed, it can sometimes be almost impossible. I don't see this being allowed for much longer. Sooner or later something is going to happen that's going to change this nonsense.

Again, the problem is not in a particular Ed or other one, but in the way how some minorities enjoy the hot alley where others wait for years. And that guy did not succeed having my screenshots, btw.

PS: on the other hand, we should not say "It's a shame" that IMDb allows so many credits to be added with literally no evidence. The process of clearing those credits out has, at least, be equally controlled for all people involved.

MAthePA,  I think it's pretty clear that those credits that were on Ed Jones' page were correct. Look at his IMDb page. It says his name is Ed Jones, AKA E Cliff Jonz. And the on-screen credit on that youtube video says "Cliff E." And Both Ed Jones and Cliff E are stand-up comedians who do improv and impersonations.

The video in question was of an African-American Comedian in his 40's. Last time I looked in the mirror I was an old White Guy!

And this needs no reply. Your just lashing out after not paying attention.
Ed Jones, if you're saying you don't know if it's been 30 days, 30 weeks, 3 years, two weeks, etc. then why did you say "All of a sudden"? If you don't know how long she's been trying to have the credits removed, then why say that?

Correction Ed Jones: It's not that it doesn't need a reply, it's that you don't want to reply to it, because you can't. You said "all of a sudden" when you have no information and even admitted you don't know how long she's been trying to remove those credits. You'd rather act like an interrogator than respond nicely to a person who asked a simple question.

Ed Jones, how do you know that comedian is in his 40s? Where did you get that from? He looks like he's at least 50 years old in his Richard Pryor/Cosby video, and that video was from 10 years ago.  And in that video, someone left this comment:
"Awesome my brother you still got it. This is Stan from the 80s. We you to do stand-up at the Comedy Store. Good to find you again."
A friend from the...80s. You're telling me a guy in his 40s used to do stand-up in the 80s? LOL, was he the world's first 5-year-old stand-up comedian?

Hahahaha, so Cliff E from YouTube is also named Ed Jones and you also happen to be named Ed Jones and you also go by E Cliff? And both of you do stand-up comedy and improv and impersonations? LOLOLOL!!!! You actually expect people to believe that? It's clear that you are the same person. You just outed yourself as the same person by showing us that E Cliff's name is Ed Jones. That is the nail in the coffin.

By the way Ed Jones, I never vandalized your page, and anyone who has the power to look at my contribution history can verify that. So please, whoever here can see my contribution history, please do something about this, as I don't appreciate Ed Jones accusing me of something which I did not do, and which can be proven that I did not do.

That Ed Jones (XXI) page is clearly a vandalized page. Let's take a look at his credits.
1. Hong Kong Taxi
Here's the link on IMDb that shows "Hong Kong Taxi":
https://vimeo.com/32726207
If you look under the video it says music and images by Ed Jones / AFP. I looked him up and found two pictures of him.

This picture is taken from this article that he wrote about Hong Kong Taxi:
https://www.newsshooter.com/2012/06/26/a-timelapse-taxi-ride-through-hong-kong-shot-with-gopro-and-5...

Here's another picture of him:

You see? Ed Jones / AFP. This ED Jones is CLEARLY not the person who made the "Cosby Speaks by Cliff E" youtube video. That was an African-American man.

Also, another credit on this Ed Jones (XXI) page lists the title "Walking. Here's the link on IMDb that shows "Walking":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZZSm-DdOJA
And here's a picture of this particular Ed Jones:

This Ed Jones is a singer and he also has music on Spotify which can be found here:
https://open.spotify.com/album/4T6K5ZJXNQcrtB4xvc3N7z

Here's another picture of this Ed Jones singer:

Here's the "Ed Jones" who apparently created the video called "Cosby Speaks by Cliff E"

Obviously all three credits on Ed Jones (XXI's) IMDb are NOT from the same Ed Jones. One of them is a young white guy, another is an old African-American man, and another is a younger African-American man. There is no way that "Cosby Speaks by Cliff E" was created by a man named Ed Jones, UNLESS it is Ed Jones (XLIX) on these forums. They are both named Ed Jones, and according to IMDb Cliff E is actually named Ed Jones. And the Ed Jones on these forums also goes by the name E Cliff Jonz which you can see in his bio here:
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm8529286/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm

So if Ed Jones (XLIX), who is the Ed Jones who posts on these forums, is not the Cliff E from youtube, then he or someone he knows is vandalizing the Ed Jones (XXI) page. I think the most likely scenario is that someone has a vendetta against the Ed Jones from these boards and added a couple credits to his page to mess with him, and once Ed Jones found out about it, he moved them to a different Ed Jones page. And I think this other Ed Jones really did create a video called "Hong Kong Taxi" but then Ed Jones (XLIX) moved two other credits to that guy's page, which is clearly VANDALIZING an innocent person's page.
IMDb should so something about this. All it took was a few minutes of research and I have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the Ed Jones (XXI) IMDb page has been messed with. Regardless of which Ed Jones the Ed Jones (XXI) belongs to, all three of those titles were created by different people.

Good research. Incomplete research. I did not move the credit. An Employee did it.
My contention was the same as yours. A falsely created video was made by someone who was having an issue removing a credit, and thought that they would be smart and put a bogus credit on my page to make me go through the frustration of try to remove it to teach me some false lesson. As you can see if a request to remove a false credit is swift, not delayed by months or years, it is quickly removed. IMDb made the decision to move it. I just said OK. Makes NO sense to argue with the decision made by staff. I always defer to their wisdom.

Moving those credits to another Ed Jones page makes no sense. Why would they belong to another Ed Jones? The guy's name is Cliff E. The only thing that makes sense would be to make a page called Cliff E and add the Cosby video to it. The fact that you are fine with another Ed Jones page being vandalized is just as bad as your own page being vandalized. Why on earth would anyone think that Cliff E from YouTube is also named Ed Jones? Don't you think it's too much of a coincidence that both you and that guy are named Ed Jones while having the alternate name of Cliff E or E Cliff? There are only two possibilities:

1: You are the Cliff E from YouTube and didn't want that Cosby video listed to your page. Or...
2: You requested that the Cosby video be deleted or moved and it was moved to another Ed Jones page that already existed. There is no evidence whatsoever that Cliff E from YouTube is also known as Ed Jones.

That Cosby Cliff E video wasn't a falsely made video in order to mess with your page. That video was uploaded in 2015. According to the link that MAthePA gave above, a disgruntled person added those credits to your page two months ago, proving that the video wasn't created for the purpose of messing with your page.

Bobby, IMDb is cautious when deleting credits. Sometimes there’s a person with the same (or very similar name) and the credits should be moved under a new name. Then there are cases where people want to remove ”unwanted” credits and can be rather vague about the reasons.

Sometimes (note: generally speaking) people don’t even want to admit that, in fact, they’re credited (which, for IMDb, makes the credits ”factual”), so they use the terms like ”I was not actually on the film” or ”I was mistakenly added to the credits” or ”I was on the set, but didn’t do any work”. That may very well be true, but if the name is on the actual credits, it can be difficult to remove it from IMDb.

My advice is to explain very clearly about the history of every credit (that people would like remove). If people don’t want to post certain info to this (public) forum, they can use the IMDb help desk:

https://help.imdb.com/contact
