How do I replace the cover image for an individual episode?

I'm having trouble replacing a cover image for its respective TV series episode. After searching IMDb help, I was able to submit the new image as a poster, but I'm not given the option to assign it as the primary image for that episode; only for the entire series, which would be incorrect. Would someone please help me troubleshoot this?

Hi, Kristien.

Try keeping the steps as follows:
https://help.imdb.com/article/contribution/images-videos/how-do-i-update-my-poster/GA8N34CWGUMJJM98?...#

If you experience further difficulties, it's preferable to publish a direct link to the episode here.

Hi MathePA,

Thank you for responding! I've actually tried those steps, but there's no option to make the new image the primary poster for the episode; it only seems to give the option to make it the primary poster for the whole series. I do see that the new image is tagged to the episode already (maybe that's an issue?). Here's a link: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10333204/?ref_=tt_mv

If you look at the photos for this episode, the new one is there and it is a poster type, but I can't switch it with the originally chosen poster image.

I actually have to do this for several episodes, so hoping you can help.

Thank you in advance.

Kristien

If you trying to use this:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10333204/mediaviewer/rm2063440385
as the primary image, it may be automatically marked as not the one because of its quality:
  1. It includes huge black borders and a text;
  2. It will be bad cropped when placed on the title page.

The image at the link you just sent does not have a black border and text, but is rather the photo featuring a major show guest that we DO want to use as the poster for that episode. The one with the text and black border needs to be replaced, and that's what I was trying to do.

The image at the link:

The black borders ARE HUGE. Also, the series tag over the main frame MAY BE disliked by AUTOMATIC system.

Here is how this could be cropped for good appeal:

But automatically it will be cropped close to this:

PS: There may be also other reasons why you have no success in this matter.

Hmmm... I see. I'm wondering why IMDB accepted the first image that was submitted because it also has a border and words that got cut off. Do you happen to know the best image size/specs we can use for these if we cropped the photos before uploading? I feel as though my attempts to help have ended up hurting this listing. :/ I really do appreciate your help!

Not a good image is better than no image -- this is a worthy reason ;)

I try to answer your questions (it's only opinion, not official).

When you search for a still image (not a poster) to place as primary one, it's better to choose between those that need no crop (will automatically crop the best) and then add them as primary. The aspect should be 1.4 to 1.5 when cropped to the center line. (E.g., the above image was cropped to 840 in hight, so it is 840/1.4=600 in width).

When there is no good ready stills, to crop before adding is the only option. If you represent the production company, may be it's a good opportunity to prepare and add the official POSTERS.

If talking only about the requested series, I consider the existing primary images (if they are based on stills from the series) are better than those candidates. A viewer expects all those fly, robot and other interesting things when visiting the Innovation title page.

I hope this helps
Good luck

Kristien,
since your question "How do I replace the cover image for an individual episode?" is actually answered with the direct link to official guidelines (and you've followed them with no success), it may be preferable to start a new topic marked as "Problem" with a corresponding name (not a question). To have a faster response, it's good to place all the links there: episodes, candidate images, 18-digit numbers of your submissions if any.
