Some months ago I was going to start such FAQ-pages, but then understood that is equally simple to copy-paste a link to a thread, or otherwise the whole short FAQ. Long FAQs really need such pages, but shorts... shorts are even better when published completely in a "problem" thread, because the person in trouble then has the off-line answer in his/her mail-box.

I fully agree that pasting a short FAQ into a problem thread is probably the best way of addressing the problem. My intent with producing a separate thread is that it is much easier for other people to find.

Unfortunately, the inbuilt search engine of GS is very poor for such FAQs to be easy found. I've tried your topic title, and have 2-minutes result:
- "How to unsubscribe" -- 3d top result is your topic;
- "unsubscribe" -- 5th respectively;
- "I want unsubscribe" -- no FAQ found...
... and so on. The engine is only for the names of topics, and is not clever to propose similar variants. Sorry, it's not our fault.Have a nice day
PS: maybe some body needs your separate topic to copy others efforts ;) So yes, its very handy.

Sadly, that is true. That is why I maintain an index of FAQs.
If we wish to discuss this further, may I humbly suggest that we start a different thread.
