Does anyone know how exactly do recommendations work? I already read the FAQ of it here . But I'm still confused about it. Like is there a certain star rating that IMDb decides to place it in my recommendations? Because I will usually rate most movies a 7. And rarely that I will rate a movie a 10. So anything above 7 star rating are movies that I really enjoyed, a fan of, that I would follow, or recommend to others. And below 7 means it was not interesting, boring, or movies I considered were not that great for me.

I am not an IMDb Staff Member. However, I have a background in the kind of algorithms behind IMDb's recommendation feature.
As Steve (Official Rep) states above, the recommendation algorithm is not solely based on your ratings. It also factors in the genres and styles of films you've rated, the cast and crew of the films you've rated and other factors.
Your using a strict rule for rating films should not have much effect on the results. The algorithm looks at the general trends of how and what you rate.
The general technique that IMDb uses is a form of Affinity analysis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affinity_analysis). The specifics are an IMDb trade secret.
