How should UFC PPV events be listed?

Hi all,

How should UFC PPV events be listed on the site? A large group of them have been bundled up into this "fake" TV-series as TV episodes:

UFC PPV Events (1993– ): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2397379/

However, the majority of them are listed as TV specials, like these examples:

UFC 42: Sudden Impact (2003): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0479190/
UFC 200: Lesnar vs. Hunt (2016): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5832694/

I don't know if there's been a topic on this before that ended up in a bunch of them being bundled up into the TV series entry (I couldn't find anything here and the IMDb boards are unsearchable) -- but I'd like to get an official word on this if possible.

If they should be bundled up, how can I help moving the unbundled ones into the TV series?

If they shouldn't, how can I help moving them out of the TV series into TV specials?

If you feel that the topic should be discussed further within the community, please post your input below :)

Thanks!

Hi Gustav -

Thanks for reporting this inconsistency, I have reached out to our title editors to clarify our policy on these title types, as soon as I hear back I will post the information here.

Hi Gustav -

I'm following up here to confirm that Paperview titles should be listed as individual titles on the site, and not bundled together as part of a series.

Our staff have adjusted the existing UFC titles so that they will be properly listed as individual TV Specials on the site.

Great! Then I know how to add the future ones as well.

Many thanks for clearing it up, Michelle, you're awesome! And please send my best to the staffers behind the scenes as well :)

All the best

Hi again Michelle,

(Please let me know if I should create a new topic on this, even though these things are very closely related :)

I just noticed that the "UFC on Fox" and "UFC Fight Night" events also have been collated into a TV-series title called "UFC on Fox": http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2278605/

These are pretty much the same as the UFC PPV events, only produced and broadcast by Fox under license from the UFC. They are not a traditional TV series and are numbered separately just like the "original" UFC events (eg "UFC on Fox 21" and "Fight Night 100").

(You can find more info on the different events here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of... )

I think they should be treated the same way as the numbered PPV events and moved out into TV Specials. Could you check with the editorial team and see what they say?

Also, I noticed that some of the UFC PPV titles that were moved off the TV series above are listed as a "TV Movie" and some are listed as a "TV Special".

Examples:
UFC 193: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5202438/ -- listed as TV Special
UFC 194: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5150742/ -- listed as TV Movie

A small inconsistency, but maybe they could all be changed into the same for posterity's sake?

Please let me know if you want me to make a list of all the ones that are wrong if that helps the editorial team in any way. If so, please let me know which is the best fit for these ones, TV Movie or TV Special and I'll make a list of the wrong ones.

(Please let me know if I can change this myself through the submission tool on the site some how, I looked but couldn't see a way to change it on an already existing title.)

IMHO, I think TV Special sounds best for sports events, but I can't really find a definition on IMDb to see how to separate them two terminologies. Please let me know if there's info on this anywhere on the site :)

Thanks a million!
/Gustav

Gustav: Regarding the TV Movie vs. TV Special issue, a nonfiction program is supposed to be listed as a TV Special, and a fiction program is supposed to be listed as a TV Movie.

To get UFC 194 classified as a TV Special instead, please submit the keyword tv-special to the program's keywords page (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5150742/keywords). All TV specials need to have tv-special as a keyword in order to be classified as such on IMDb.

I don't have a comment on the "UFC on Fox" issue you raised. Hopefully someone else can answer that.
