Okay, no laughing here but I have a guilty pleasure of watching the trashy movies on Lifetime. The Casteel Family series is based on 5 novels written under the name V.C. Andrews; however, V.C. Andrews did not write all the books, though they were published under her name.
The first two movies are easy. Heaven and Dark Angel were both solely written by V.C. Andrews, so no question here.
The next movie is where it gets tricky. Fallen Hearts was started by V.C. Andrews but she died before finishing it and it was finished by Andrew Neiderman. Should the credits look like:
Virginia C. Andrews (based upon the novel by) (as V.C. Andrews) 2,1,1
Andrew Neiderman (based upon the novel by) (as V.C. Andrews) 2,1,1
The final two books, Gates of Paradise and Web of Dreams, were published after V.C Andrews died so she had nothing to do with them. Should the credit only be like (with no credit for the actual V.C. Andrews has she had nothing to do with them?):
Andrew Neiderman (based upon the novel by) (as V.C. Andrews) 2,1,1

I'm sure there are similar situations, say with Nancy Drew books which were all published under one name despite being written by various people.
