How to edit a movie/tv show into a tv/show movie?

I was planning on slowly updating a few anime titles, when I came across Hunter x Hunter OVA (2002) (Video).

The series is on IMDb as video, which is correct, but the database sees it as a movie, but it's actually an 8-episode series.

Is there a way users can edit the type of media it is, or does this need to be filed to actual IMDb employees?

Tom: IMDb users can submit corrections to the page, which will have to be processed by IMDb staff before they appear on the website. But in this case, there seems to be some issue as to how this title should be characterized.

As I understand it, Hunter x Hunter OVA 1 (2002) (V) is a production that was released direct-to-video, but was divided into episodes like a television series. (I understand that this is not unusual in the anime business.) Thus, it does not fit into either the standard characterization on IMDb of either direct-to-video productions or television series.

I would like to hear from other contributors and/or from an IMDb staffer before advising you whether to submit a correction to this, and if so, what kind of correction.

Alright, I wasn't sure what types of media IMDb supports overall.

But it seems IMDb doesn't offer an entry format for direct-to-video series?

(This would be the case with it's sequel OVA's and tons of other anime-related series)

Tom: I'm thinking that direct-to-video series might need to be entered into IMDb simply as several individual direct-to-video releases. That's because IMDb doesn't have a "series-and-episodes" structure for OVA series like this one, as distinguished from the series-and-episodes structure that IMDb does use for TV series.

But then, maybe IMDb would want the OVA series to be entered as though it was a TV series. I don't know that that's what they want, and I'm not saying that's what they want, but it's a possibility.

Adding a new "title type" is probably one of the most difficult things for IMDb to have to do. For comparison, they would like to have created a new title type for webseries, but since they haven't been able to do so, all webseries are entered into the database in the format for TV series instead.

Hi Tom and gromit82 -

I'm checking on this with our title managers, as soon as I hear back from them I will post the information here.

Hi Tom and gromit82,

Given the structure of the release (the episodic format) we would prefer to list the title as a TV series and treat it as if it were a webseries. I have made the change so now you can add the episodes via the 'Add episode' button found at the bottom of the page.

Thanks gromit82 for providing the background to the title type issue.

Regards,
Will
