Oscar-winning sound editor Mike Hopkins sadly died on Saturday in a rafting accident. Reports state he was 53, which would mean he was born in 1959/1960:

I think there must be some confusion. Have the press got the wrong age? Or are there some erroneous entries on IMDB?
Apparently, this sound editor from New Zealand was editing British shows such as The New Avengers and The Professionals from 1976-1978. He would only have been around 16-19 in this period... I guess it could be possible. He's also down as doing Superman (which was partially filmed at Pinewood and Shepperton in the UK) during that time.
However, he's also listed as editing programs in the 1960s, including one in 1962...when he couldn't have been older than 3! Obviously, this is impossible.
Are the press wrong, or are there two Mike Hopkins who were sound editors? If so, which credit belongs to which?
