It is not supposed to be easy to delete credits. IMDb wishes to list your credits fully and accurately.

If something on your page is inaccurate, a good first step would be to post the details here so contributors or staff can suggest how to correct it.

Kenneth,

Can you start a new thread about your issue and explain what you need done?  This is a 3 year old thread about someone else's page.  It'll be less confusing if you start a thread and explain (preferably without shouting in caps) what the errors are that need correcting (include links to pages involved if you can...or at least describe them).

Hello-- As a 9th grade teacher and actor, I have requested that my acting credit in the R-rated film, "Bad is Bad" be deleted. My reason for this action is to extinguish my connection with this film due it its rating for I don't find it appropriate for 14-year-olds to view. I have completed all pertinent information and request for deletion (and was given the green light to submit). The director of the film, Kent Lamm, has also put in a credit deletion request of my name. It has been 15 days since my submission. How long does a credit deletion usually take, especially one with such unique circumstances? Thank you, everyone, for all of your help in this matter. I certainly appreciate all of your wisdom and efforts!

Sorry Bill,

But I am certain your efforts (and those of your director) to have this credit removed will come to naught. IMDb is not a 9th grade textbook. Its content isn't tailored to the needs of any particular age group.
IMDb's mission is to be the world's most trusted and authoritative source of movie, TV and celebrity content and to make that content available to the widest audience possible.
- from the Contributors Charter.

It would be neither authoritative nor trusted if it allowed removal of accurate information about the credited casts of the films listed in the database.

Thanks, Mayor, for your quick response. I figured, based on what I've seen from other members with similar concerns, that it is nearly impossible to have credits deleted, so I've decided to take the next logical step by cancelling my subscription with the result being that all 12 of my credits will be deleted. It's the only way I can cut the connection I have with this film. Thanks for your time and efforts.

Bill,

While IMDb has a subscription service (Pro lets you add photos, etc.), having or cancelling one does not change credits on a page.  So, if you pay for having a photo...it will be removed once your paid time period expires...but all other data will remain on the IMDb Name Page in your name.  IMDb is a factual document of credits that have appeared in film/tv.  It's free to use and credits are listed because they exist, not the result of any payment of any kind.

If you're Bill Brock, "official photos" and "resume" you've uploaded via Pro will be removed (when the paid period has expired)...but the rest of the page will remain as is.

If you have further issues/questions, please begin your own thread rather than posting here on this completely unrelated topic from 3 years ago.

Hi Peter,

Maybe you can help;
I find myself emailing IMDB again about a credit I want removed. Having paid the yearly subscription to (IMDBPro) I expect to be able to do this!!!!!!!!!
My reasons are as follows;
I was never informed nor was my consent given to be included in the credits of this film.
I am not in the film, I didn't appear in the final edit.

That simple,

This is an on going request which is now turning into something
very infuriating!!!!! I keep getting standard ;

Receipt number and ..........
Thank you for contributing to IMDb. A detailed receipt for your update is included below. The information you supplied has been passed to the IMDb data managers for verification.

Updates normally take around 2-14 days to appear online, but depending on the type of information submitted and various internal factors, it may take longer in some cases. Please do not resubmit your data.

If your changes still have not appeared online after 18 days, it can mean that we were unable to verify the information, or it was in some way ineligible for inclusion. However, you should check the processing times page for any unusual delays, especially during or after holiday periods.

For questions on the submission process we recommend visiting the IMDb Get Satisfaction community message board.

The reference number for this submission is --------------------- and it has been added to your update history.

I have emailed before but the response time is very slow and nothing is done!!!!!
I hope you can help!!!!!!!

It can take a while to get a reply from IMDb, but the help desk will usually get back to you eventually. Same thing if you post a question here at this board.

Since you say you were credited in the film, I'm not sure IMDb will consent to deleting the credit. If you worked on the film, but the scenes were cut, this can be indicated with the (scenes deleted) attribute.

I wish to also have credits removed from my page. I started to work on a film but dropped out due to non-payment issue. I received a credit but it was wrongly issued since I did not finish the film. Plus, its the wrong position. I was not a set costumer. I was the assistant costume designer. They actually ranked my intern with a higher title. I want the credit removed immediately. I do not want to be associated with this film.

IMDb primarily records credits. If your name is shown on screen, the IMDb listing will not be removed, as that would make the database incomplete. What you desire is immaterial to IMDb.

However, if you did not do the work and were credited anyway, you can add the attribute (credit only) to the listing to indicate this.

You probably will need to include an explanation indicating exactly why the attribute should be accepted; something like :
I started to work on a film but dropped out due to non-payment issue. I received a credit but it was wrongly issued since I did not finish the film.
Do not bother indicating that the credit is incorrect, as IMDb records the on-screen credit.

Sorry, but this is the best you can do.

IMDB sucks for this! Its stupid and ridiculous that actors are forced to display false information on there pages! If you were Angelina Jolie or someone big I bet it would get handled asap! Stupid system!

OK...I get it now. Let me see if I can get it deleted. Though, please not, I am not an employee of IMDb, just a user.

Anton...that's a different situation completely. You comments above, in the context of this thread, don't make any sense. This thread is about people asking about deleting valid credits. They started working the projects and credits survived though their input didn't. The listings are accurate. If you have a different situation, you should have simply started a new thread asking how to correct erroneous info, which IMDb does....daily.

What if the credit has been added prior to the release of a movie and is in breach of a non-disclosure agreement by the artist with the production company. Could the credit be removed? The artist is being threatened with legal action if the credit is not removed, but IMDB has not done so, It has been over 1 month.

You can try. Remember: IMDB is updated by users like you (and me).

Just use the edit buttons and submit your suggestions.

Most people in the industry should know by now: IMDB is a moderated wiki, it's content is entered by the community which does not always  get everything 100% correct no matter how hard it tries

It's an ongoing project to constantly update things on IMDB by everyone who visits. But the end goal is to accurately record what is credited on screen along with noting any errors that are associated with those credits (and so on)

Vincent,

It's doubtful they'd remove data based on an agreement or legal action between the parties involved in the film's production.  They will usually only remove data proven to be inaccurate.

If the movie isn't out yet, it isn't accurate yet as there are no credits technically for the film.

I know what you are getting at though; if the credits accurate it's not going anywhere. But at the same time: IMDB can only use information that is publicly available, and a film that has not been released has no proof of who is on the cast yet anyway so in effect the cast list is all theory and not part of public record.

I don't know how IMDB would interpret it; but I suppose my main reaction was to the threat of legal action against the actor for something he has no direct control over. He may or may not have been responsible for the credit appearing on IMDB; but once its there it certainly isnt up to him whether its removed or not.

The way IMDB is setup anyone could have entered that (to try and get him trouble with the studio); and it's up to IMDB to decide whether or not to take it down (which they  could for now until the credits are finalized and released publicly, proving whether or not he's credited).

Having his name on a page for a film without released credits is of minor value to anyone anyway.

Hello all,
I have been repeating this every week or so on my imdb pro page and it has not been working ,
in short...a number of years ago I made the mistake of adding credits to two movies that I had worked background on ...you know, the "uncredited subway passenger" and the like, well I now see the error pf my ways and have been trying to get them off...is there any other thing I can do besides going onto update my page and deleting them, imdb has not done it for these two credits but it has done it with a TV credit that I had listed myself on!  I learned my lesson and will never again add background credits!
my page: https://pro-labs.imdb.com/name/nm1696978
credit 1: https://pro-labs.imdb.com/title/tt0377043/ (piano player)
credit 2: https://pro-labs.imdb.com/title/tt0457939/ (man on tube)
Thanks in advance for any advice!
~Andy
