Where is the search function to find IMDb user names? For instance, if I know there is a IMDb user named Bismark5, how do I find and go to their profile? (I already know, if I happen to see a user name on the site, such as a message board post, etc, I can click on their user name. I asking, if I don't happen to be looking at their user name on the site, via message board post, etc, then where is the search engine to find that user? Most message boards has this search function.) Thanks!

Thank you for the Board Reader suggestion. Nifty search engine. Sadly, it doesn't scan user names. I used Advanced Search site/domain "http://www.imdb.com/boards" (which successfully searches the site/domain) and a user name I confirmed had post on said forum a month ago, but was not found.
That is too bad about the function being removed. Just because a function is not used a lot, doesn't seem to be a good reason to remove it, especially if it isn't directly costing money. Sometimes uses of functions grow in their time. Perhaps you requisition to return that function.

They stated it was not worth the resources it used (which probably equates to money somehow).
It was closed years ago, after years in use, then was tried again recently. Probably it's too soon to become any kind of priority again.
Worth noting is that this board has a "tag" feature that let's users see if a question has been asked/answered, but you see the same questions practically every day. Almost daily you'll see, "I have two IMDb pages...how can I merge them?" I guess it just doesn't occur to folks to take ansecond to see if it's been asked/answered before. Here though, it won't come up in less a tag has been listed, then the same key word used...so it doesn't search users. But still, it's an example of how a good feature goes unused.

The tag for feature is here on GetSatisfaction. It lets you add tags to a post. You can add one while posting your original question, then add with the tag+ button, to the right of the messages. So, for instance, this thread has "search" "user" "imdb" and if someone were to search, or begin to ask the question, "how do I search for an imdb user," the search will show this thread and he/she can either add to the discussion, or simply see there is already an answer.
However, I am noticing they're archiving threads pretty fast here on GS lately, so even some FAQ's might not come up.

Thank you! Another excellent suggestion. After searching for search utilities on IMDb, the first thing I tried was a google search for the user name. But it wasn't found. I have also just tried your google links; no luck. Obviously not an active user.
Which brings me to one more question: If an IMDb user is inactive for a long period of time, can their user name (will their user name) be deleted? Can a member ask IMDb for that used user name? I'd assume not. I wanted the user name "Sculpt", but it was taken (which is how I know it exists). I wanted to see the profile, and take it from there. (Side note: a user name, that's also a noun and verb, makes searches difficult due to non-user name matches.) Thank you!

Of note, a user with a lot of time on his hands has created a list of users...I don't see sculpt on the list though, proving it's far from complete...but it can sometimes be helpful. Don't put much into his guesses as to which accounts are the same person as he has several names lumped in with mine, none of which are me. So, there is some good and some bad info in there. Oh, I am sure I did. He said something critical of me, so I started "commenting" when he'd reply with useless links that had nothing to do with the post to which he was replying, because he misunderstood the question...pretty much at every chance I got. When he posted on the "This board is no longer monitored" thread, that he will not be registering here (in red font), I replied, "Good Idea!" (in red font). But, I think I later deleted to be nice. When people complained about trolling with "socks" on Help, he would add links to a bunch of similar names, implying they are related. If you call him on it, he replies, "I'm not saying they are the same, just pointing out similar or related names" which is like fanning flames with false information. He also used to use the Help Board to report problems. For a while I just reported it and had them removed, but when I started posting "This board is not for reporting problems, use the contact form" is, I think, when he posted the list of those who are not me.
I get accused of being other people all the time. It just makes it worse when they go off and come back with "proof" because they saw it on ACT1's list. Of seen others get accused of the same thing based on that list too. So, it's not just me. It's the fact he uses IMDb to spread false info (as if there isn't enough of that out there on the net!).
