How to specify a specific performance when building a list of characters?

When building a list of characters, I can not figure out how to specify the exact performance I want in my list.

For example, I was building a list of Musicians: http://www.imdb.com/list/hRFO3Wogjoo/

I wanted to add Laurence Fishburne as Ike Turner in What's Love Got to do With It. I could not figure out how to add him.  When searching for Ike Turner, the only option comes up as (The Playboy Club (2011 TV Series), Adrian Byrd).  It seems to me that the only options given for a character is the latest performance instead of the specific performance I want.

Here is another example.  I wanted to add:

1. Ian Hart as John Lennon In Backbeat(1994) 
2. Aaron Taylor-Johnson also as John Lennon in Nowhere Boy(2009) 

But, when I search for John Lennon, the only option is John Lennon played by himself.  Here is a screenshot of the search function:



Is there any way to fix this?
