I am trying to add myself to the cast list of my first feature film.

The Data Processing Times page says that its Oldest Item in the Cast category is from 27 October 2015. I submitted a cast addition for myself on 22 October. Has my update been rejected?

Rob: Please post your last full data submission here on this message board. You can copy it out of the receipt you would have received from IMDb by e-mail immediately after sending it in. Some of the regulars on the board may review it and, if they can, they may provide suggestions as to how to improve the submission to get it included in the database. (Also, please include the submission reference number -- it's an 18-digit number that will look something like 150123-123456-789000.)

Thank you very much for your reply.  It turns out that a friend recommended I get an IMDbPro account.  And as soon as I signed up for it - BINGO - the credit appeared.  I guess you get what you pay for ...

Rob,

Paying for IMDbPro does not affect submissions of data. Don't expect that in future submissions.

The submission, verification and processing is identical whether you're a subscriber to IMDbPro or not. It would have simply been a coincidence that the credit appeared at the same time.

Submissions take 1-7 days to process, sometimes a day or two more. In your case it took 6 or 7 days.

It's a common assumption that people have that paying will somehow get them what they want in submitting data corrections, additions, deletions, etc. But it's not considered in that processing. Just wanted that to be clear.

Whoops!  I'm sorry!  That was very careless of me!  I meant that as a tease and, of course, I fully recognize that the appearance of the credit could have been a complete coincidence!  If I could take back that bit of snark at the end of my last post, I would!  It was not nice of me to fool around like that!  Mea culpa!

That said, if there is a "common assumption" that paying gets you better service, coincidences like this don't help matters.  Perhaps the Data Processing Times page could use an update to make it clearer.  This might avoid future misunderstandings.  Just a suggestion ...

For example, why does the Data Processing Times page say that its Oldest Item in the Cast category is still from 27 October 2015?  I noted two days ago that it said the same thing.  Does that mean nothing in that category has been processed in (at least) the last two days?  If that is true, I think people would be fine with it.  I know I would.  If that is false, the page is not doing much to help that perception.  I just want to know where I stand.  I just want to know roughly where I am in the line ... or whether I'm in the line at all.  See what I mean?

Anyway, I am not complaining at all about the processing time.  That was terrific, from what I had been led to expect.  I was only concerned when it became very unclear whether my credit was accepted or not.  I - like most people, I think - hate to be in the dark about such things.

I am happy with the additional control of my online presence that the Pro account seems to offer.  I stand corrected that it does not provide for faster processing.  But if it did, I would, likewise, be fine with it.  I wouldn't blame IMDb in the slightest.  After all, everybody needs to make living.  Right?

Thanks, bluesman!  (I used to live in Chicago. I like the blues, too!)  And thanks again, gromit!

No worries. Like I say, it's very common, so some language during sign-up clarifying what's included and what's not might be a good idea!

The dates listed are estimates. Difficulty verifying can make one take longer than another (and, of course, a flood of submissions can change it quickly-maybe not quick enough to update that page. But it's usually about right on.

They are, apparently, working on adding a notification feature, like they've now established for new titles being submitted. I am sure that'll happen eventually...hopefully soon.

You're very welcome! (rock the blues..always!)
