I got this notice after entering my film: This title has been rejected. That was the correct title for my film.  How can I fix this?

Mark: Did you go through the entire new title submission process (including entering cast and/or crew members) or just get to entering the title before you got the rejection?

What was the film's title and year? And if you did go through the entire new title submission process, what other data did you submit?

Hi, gromit82.  I was only able to enter the title and year and that it was released to and wasn't allowed to go any further after two attempts.  The title is Another Lost Weekend (1993).  Thank you for your reply.  Any thoughts?  Oh, and please say hello to Wallace for me!

Mark: I'm not sure what the problem is. Could you try submitting the film again, but save screen captures as you go through the process? This way, if you run into an error, you could post the screen captures here so the regulars can look at them and see if they can figure out the problem.

Good luck!

I tried to do this, and it seems to work, but there are several steps.

I entered :
Title: Another Lost Weekend
Year: 1993
and selected:
Type: Film
Status : Released
I am:  none of the above
Clicked Check these updates

Selected:
Sub-Type: Short
Clicked Re-check these updates

The next page shows a warning message beginning:
We already have titles which are similar to 'Another Lost Weekend (1993)', are you sure it's not one of these?
followed by a long list of titles

I am sure, so I checked the box beside This is not an existing title.
Clicked Re-check these updates

This brought up the main data entry page.

I can't continue testing as I don't have the actual data. You need to fill in enough data before the Update system will accept the submission.

Note that if you don't provide input for all fields in the first screen you will get a message like :
This title has been rejected. You need to correct this title before it will be accepted.
    • Type
    • Source
In this case you just need to check/select the correct option and Re-check these updates

Similarly on the next screen if you don't make a selection you will see the message:
This title has been rejected. You need to correct this title before it will be accepted.
    • Sub-type
In IMDb you need to read the message, and see if you can match it to an  item on the form. I often trigger this kind of error when on a form I haven't used in a while; the trick is to re-check the form carefully for something you missed.

Red does mean an error that cannot be bypassed, while beige is one that can. However, red is not a fatal error. While a beige warning will have a check-box that allows you to proceed without making any changes to what you entered, a red error doesn't. Sometimes a Red error cannot be corrected and the submission must be abandoned, but in many cases a change to the data on the form will correct the problem. Just remember to click Re-check after making the changes. All checking is done on the Server, so the error will not disappear till it has a chance to see the new data.

That's not the same problem. You just need to wait for the title to be fully processed and available for updates.
