I want my information removed

I was added to IMDB 20 years ago without my permission by the director of a student film for which I volunteered. I made a few edits afterwards, but the web was very new back then and I didn't know what I was doing. I have asked IMDB numerous times to remove my bio, my personal information etc, but I keep getting told "No." My film experience is one student film and one uncredited job. I'm not a film professional. Please please please take this profile off your site:

Hi Rachael.
Sorry you want your info removed. If you have read some of the other topics here on this same subject you'll know that the answer here is the same answers you have been receiving. A no, I'm sorry to say.

This is IMDb's Policy.......

IMDb aims to be the most comprehensive and reliable source of information on movies, TV and celebrities. We are committed to accuracy and it is our longstanding policy not to alter or remove correct factual information from our records.

So, IMDb will not remove accurate information. If you try to delete an item of data which is accurate, your delete will not be processed.

Here's the the thing -- if I'm not in the credits, how on earth can they verify if it's accurate? And half of my bio is also unverifiable. It kind of sounds like they just don't give a s--- about people's lives.

20 years lapsed without a peep. IMDb reports facts. You have corroborated your statement of fact in your post above. You made edits, but made no attempt at disputing the credits. IMDb does not remove factual information.
ABC news is not going to remove a news article and print a retraction because somebody asks. IMDb is just like ABC, it reports facts and publishes said facts.
Very sorry but no amount of pleading will get facts removed from the database.
Thanks

Oh no, 20 years did not lapse without a peep. I've been trying to contact IMDB through a variety of methods about this. I have made these same claims before. This is just a new avenue (and the only reason I tried this is because there is a post somewhat similar to mine in which it seems like someone may have been successful). Yes, I did make a few edits, but the web was a VERY different place 19-20 years ago. Had I known that my terrible bio and my personal information would be up there forever, I would have nipped this in the bud way back then. But people are being punished now for not knowing what they didn't know back then, and that's a damn shame.

I was involved in solving a crime and was asked for an interview, but I declined. The reporter could have printed my name and my personal information, but she didn't because of a thing called integrity. I wish IMDB had some.

The press has Zero integrity.
And if you do not like your biography, rewrite it.
No one is stopping you. You may include what you are currently up to after your brief sojourn into film-making.

Oh, so I can add MORE information about myself that I don't want on IMDB? Awesome idea.

Rachel Aubin, sorry to say that, but you've concluded wrong: Ed is an active and helpful user here.

IMDb is not a personal resume service: it collects factual credits and information. One cannot simply delete the listings because one does not want them in their filmography. If they manage to do that bypassing the rules it's likely that an active user will discover them by watching the movie and will, eventually, reinstate the information.

Your own argument works against you. You say the credits are "unverifiable" not that they are false. You are tacitly admitting that the credits are true. If your life can be ruined by facts, then I don't know what to tell you.
