You can adjust the number of emails you receive by setting your preferences. However, I expect most of your problem emails are actually from this site, not actually IMDb.

On the assumption that is actually this site, I will give the steps for it first.

Click on your name in the header  of almost any GetSatisfaction page, and click on Profile in the dropdown. This will open a new window.

In that window click on Email & Notifications at the top of the page.

There are 2 sets of options you need to adjust. The first set, at the top is for all of GetSatisfaction. You probably want to leave the first option,
Send me email at my primary email address about new replies on topics I have posted, replied to, or followed
so you will know when you receive answer to your problems, but the other three can be unchecked.

Be certain to click the Save Emails and Notifications button after you have made the changes.

Further down you will see a section titled IMDb.com.

Make sure both email options :
Notify me of all new topics in IMDb.com
Notify me of every new topic and every new reply in IMDb.com
are unchecked. These are the options that generate a lot of email.
Again, be sure to click the Save Company Notifications button once you have changed the options.

On the other hand, if it is actually email from IMDb itself, hover over your User ID in the black header on almost any IMDb page, and click on Site Settings.

Click on Update general site preferences in the Preference group.

The email options are the first section on the page. You can decide how much you want to recieve, including selecting I prefer not to receive e-mail from IMDb  to stop all but necessary contact by IMDb for business purposes.

As always, be sure to click the Update button if you make any changes.

I have updated my email notifications in IMDb. I just became a member of "getsatisfaction" so I just set my email preferences. I am still getting movie trailers sent to me. How do I stop them?
