What has happened to private lists? I can't see how to add films to them anymore. The drop down arrow on the right side of "Add to watch list" that I am told to use in the help texts, doesn't exist.

Can you check the Your Lists section?:
http://www.imdb.com/profile/lists
Your private lists should be in there. If not, have you logged into the wrong account (easy to do if you accidentally hit the button to, say, login through Google if you've previously logged in through Facebook)?
This kind of thing has been reported before, both with the Watchlist button missing completely and the arrow, so see if this helps:

Thanks for clarifying - you can't add films to lists from there. You need to go to the list and add it directly (hint: use the link and it will only return one result) or add them from the film's entry where you do get the downward pointing arrow.
I'd like to be able to my other lists from those pages, but I suppose if you have a lot of lists it could make the page rather code-heavy.
Anyway: Not a problem, that is how that page works.

No, I sent this screen shot to demonstrate that my lists were available. As I mentioned at the bottom of the post, the problem exists from all pages where the WatchList button appears. I never get an arrow on the right of the button and I can't add films anywhere.
The primary place that I would want to add a film, is the film's entry page, as you mentioned, but it isn't possible, as demonstated below.

Uncheck "Always display full cast and crew credits" on your "Site Preferences" page.
https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb...
The drop down menu works from that version of the Title page. If you have a lot of film lists as I do, it may take a while to load and may not work every time.
I was unable to get a screen image of the drop down, since the drop down collapses when the cursor is not on the watch list button.
I personally, prefer to display "Always display full cast and crew credits" and would like to see the watch list implemented the same way on that version of the page.

Fixed!
Many thanks Dan and Emperor. The "Always display full cast and crew credits" option was the one screwing things up.
I agree with Dan that an "Add to WatchList" button should always work the same way where possible.
Thanks again.
