why cant i just comment on someones list with out having to use facebook aol or yahoo. change it back so you can just leave a comment if your logged into your imdb account. like you used to be able to do. if i want people on facebook to see what im doing here i will tell em. i cant be the only one who feels this way. there used to be a lot of comments on my lists, and now like one comment every 3 months if that. where do i tell them about this?

even to post here i cant just simply use my imdb account. how much are they making from these companys to get me to sign up. i guess that documentary was right. it even tells you its going to use information from your account, read your tweets, see your friends, and so on. its 1984 and i cant believe people are ok with this. i had to make a fake account just so the cant see what i do when i use google. unreal

First point suggested here:

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

Second one here:

Best thing you can do is +1 them and if you know anyone with similar complaints, then direct them to those suggestions.

so i guess we lose. only 11 people gave a +1. maybe 12 after me. i have a hard time believing that only 12 people have a problem with this. maybe they dont realize whats happening, dont care, or dont want to log in with their facebook to join the conversation. either way its just not enough people to make the decision makers change their minds. i used to love using imbd. is there nothing more we can do?

i completely agree. i had to use google+ just to log into this site. we need to use facebook? what was the point of registering with IMDb then? very, very sad. and more than a little alarming.

Well said! I've had an IMdB account for 13 years. Now, every time I want to post a comment but encounter the 'Log onto Facebook" message, I simply close the browser, & feel discouraged. Facebook is increasingly like the 'cyber' equivalent of the CBS reality TV show 'Big Brother'; absolutely NOTHING is held back & ALL is laid bare for grandparents, co-workers, children, best friends, etc. the fact is, most folks may not have dirty little secrets, but still, have areas of life that they keep 'compartmentalized'. That is, they DECIDE for themselves with whom they share the details of their lives.

For whatever reason, IMdB has taken that choice of autonomy away. It does Not make them more cool. Rather, it makes them horrendous!

Hi Steve,

I suspect many people do not realize that these threads exist or that following them (+1) will indicate interest to IMDb. You can help by telling others who share your concern to follow these threads.

I've followed (+1ed) both of these threads.

And, there have only been 6,000 people who've registered here compared to the millions on the main site. Most of those probably asked a question when they had a problem, then haven't returned to see this, nor any other threads. Probably 12 is a lot, considering...

maybe your right or they dont want to take the time, but still its outrageous.  they do nothing about it either.  i wonder how much money they are making from facebook or the other companies.  that money should go directly to us.  its our privacy they are invading.

I agree this is crazy, have been a user since the days of dial-up. Facebook like myspace will be a memory of internet past like Alta Vista
