I'm having trouble changing my name. I'm Rachel Payne (II) aka Rachel Lee Payne. I just got married last Sunday & I want to change my name to Rachel Lee Payne Darrow. When I do so on the Edit page it refuses to change my name from Rachel Payne (II) to Rachel Lee Payne Darrow cause they are too much alike. How do I facilitate these changes?

I just tested the change (without submitting it), and it seemed to work.

Did you get to the point in the submission process where it said ...

We have these people with similar names :-
  • Payne, Rachel (II) (Production Designer, Sassy Pants (2012))
    aka Rachel Lee Payne
  • Harris, Rachel Lee (II) (Actress, "Mortal Kombat: Conquest: The Serpent and the Ice (#1.15)" (1999))
  • Harris, Rachel Lee (I) (Actress, Round Robin (1973))
  • Darrow Jr., Gayne Allen (Art Director, Regretful Decision (2005))
  • This is a different person not currently listed - create 'Darrow, Rachel Lee Payne'.

If so, the option you would select is the last one: "This is a different person not currently listed - create 'Darrow, Rachel Lee Payne'" Yes, even though Payne, Rachel (II) is you, selecting that option would cancel the correction -- you do want to select "This is a different person not currently listed".

(This is a common problem that probably is discussed here once a week.)

If there is some other problem, please come back and provide more information.

Hello might you be able to help me as well?

I just became SAG Union and want to add the middle inital "L.", so I want to go from "Marie Burke (III)" to "Marie L. Burke" but I have been playing around with the form for a half hour now and I give up. I keep trying but it says "there are warnings and they must be acknowledged first." When I click on my name and try it though, it doesn't work.
If you figure out how to do it and can help me then please share. Thank you.

Once you have entered the new name as Burke, Marie L. you need to add the explanation that this is you SAG name and you will be using it from now  on.

Now the part that catches most people : do not click on the radio button beside your name; this will just change the data you have entered back to the current name. In spite of the wording, you need to check the button beside This is a different person not currently listed.  After you Re-check these updates, you should be able to submit the request.

Thank you David. I tried this several times and I still cannot get it to work. Here is what I am trying:
1) In "Name Correction or Merge" I type Marie L. Burke
2) I put my explanation in the explanation box
3) I click "Check for changes" and it gives me "warnings" in yellow with this message: "This correction has warnings, you must acknowledge each one before this correction will be accepted"
4) Among all of the bubbles available, I click on my name (Marie Burke (III) Endless Love)
5) It then says the change has been rejected.
6) Going back, the only other bubble I could pick would be the one that says "This is a different person not currently listed - create 'Burke, Marie L.'." I don't think I want to do this because that looks like a whole new profile. I do want to incorporate everything from my old one.
Any idea what I am doing wrong??? Thanks.

As he said above, do not click the bubble next to your name. Click the one that says "a different person" even if it sounds wrong. It's the correct one but is poorly worded. In certain cases it's worded correctly...in yours it means "it's a different name, one that is not already listed" even though it's not worded as if that's what they mean. You're just going to have to trust us on that. We've done it many, many times before and it's worked every time.

Well by golly it worked! Thanks so much. Yes, you are right, it is worded as if it is a different person, not a different name. Appreciate it guys.
