I have an idea. Movie piracy exists, there is no point denying it, and almost impossible to fight it. But what missing is a platform, where after someone downloaded a movie and liked it, could donate a dollar or two to the movie makers. Most people using IMDB to find info on the movie they watched, you would only have to add a button to make this happen. I know there might be some legal issues, but I'm sure Hollywood wouldn't mind make a few more buck on their movies. And I don't think this would encourage piracy, since I doubt those people who are downloading movies feel bad about it in the first place.

IMDb would not be able to consider your idea without working directly with the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA, http://www.mpaa.org/) and other organizations that work to protect the copyright of film and television productions. This is MPAA's position on film piracy:

IMDb actively removes links to sites that host illegal video streaming services and other sites that promote distribution of material that violates copyrights of others.
