If I have numerous credits as *Self* + only 1 old credit as *Misc Crew* -why isn't *Self* listed as my primary profession on top of my page?

Is there a way to re-submit my numerous *Self* credits so that the number of these override the 1 *Misc Crew* primary profession listed at top under my name?

I will edit the "Self" listings to allow "Self" profession to be my main, if so.

I don't think anyone has Self listed at the top of the page, not even those who only have self credits. So you would have to persuade IMDb to change that bit of programming.

It is my name (Carla Baron) then "Self" appears after. When I do a search for my name, it shows "Self."

When will my actual page update to reflect that search listing?  (See below)

This is my page now, which still reflects "Misc Crew" profession as primary, not "Self" like the search above.

When will it show "Self" along with my name like it does in searches now?

Carla, there is nothing you can do to the self credits that will alter the positioning.
But, there is a way to have self listed first. You will have to prove that you were not a stand in for Kelly Preston on 'Twins'.

Unfortunately, if it is true about the stand in credit, then IMDb policy will prevent you from removing the credit, so the misc crew will have to remain.

The only time that self is at the top is when an individual has no other credits.

See the George Patton example above.

HOWEVER -

I am not talking about the positioning of the credits. I am talking about the sheer number of "Self" credits outnumbering the Misc Crew credit. It shows when you search for my name, but not at top profession listed under my name on actual page.

Inquiring about the PROFESSION listed under my name. In the search for my name on IMDbPro, you can clearly see I am listed as "Self" in the photo above.

I just want to know when my actual page when you land there will reflect the same as it does when you search for me.

And the "proof" that I was not the assigned stand-in on Twins is what exactly?

I am not listed on any of their call sheets. I was doing a favor for the producer filling in for the regular stand-in for just a couple days while she was out sick with food poisoning.

I don't recall the girl's full name as this was 30 yrs ago. So how am I supposed to prove this other than stating what I did above?

Unfortunately you just alluded that you did indeed do the "stand in", and would not be eligible for removal.

I went 'round & 'round with that last week. I know.

It was only 2 days helping out a producer friend. (Guess that's what happens when you show kindness.)

But I still should NOT have been credited with the "Misc Crew" stand-in credit as I was not the stand-in hired for this film. In fact - I was not a stand-in, at all!

But they were in a bind since the girl had to leave suddenly, and I happened to be visiting on set that day. (Lucky me. Ugh.)

IMDb considers that any credit has priority above a self credit or archive credit.
Why it shows self in the search and then shows the crew credit is baffling and will require an answer by staff.
Peter and I are just people that help here.
So if you would please, hang on a little. An IMDb Employee will address your question and provide an answer.

Will the "Miscellaneous Crew" still remain as profession under my name on page, or no?

Yes, Misc Crew will remain.
All that will happen is that the credit will now be reflected with an (uncredited) attribute.

This topic sort of got sidetracked with the stand-in situation. The original question got lost in the mix.

Gonna start a new conversation to get the original question answered.

Hi, Carla:

As Peter has commented, nobody has "Self" listed at the top of their page, not even those who only have self credits, because it is not one of the 40 primary professions currently acknowledged by .

As of today (5 May 2019)... PRIMARY PROFESSIONS:
      actor  ~ 2,218,360 names
      actress  ~ 1,317,151 names
      animation department  ~ 146,789 names
      art department  ~ 331,812 names
      art director  ~ 68,844 names
      assistant  ~ 2,886 names
      assistant director  ~ 187,737 names
      camera department  ~ 571,147 names
      casting department  ~ 40,679 names
      casting director  ~ 23,565 names
      cinematographer  ~ 263,819 names
      composer  ~ 226,275 names
      costume department  ~ 110,036 names
      costume designer  ~ 57,517 names
      director  ~ 504,994 names
      editor  ~ 248,216 names
      editorial department  ~ 135,006 names
      electrical department  ~ 2 names
      executive  ~ 23,860 names
      legal  ~ 3,013 names
      location management  ~ 56,497 names
make up department  ~ 163,938 names
      manager  ~ 10,263 names
      miscellaneous  ~ 1,024,263 names
      music department  ~ 175,540 names
      producer  ~ 822,394 names
      production department  ~ 3 names
      production designer  ~ 61,093 names
      production manager  ~ 153,259 names
      publicist  ~ 3,169 names
      script department  ~ 1 name
      set decorator  ~ 41,331 names
      sound department  ~ 289,873 names
      soundtrack  ~ 123,089 names
      special effects  ~ 52,706 names
      stunts  ~ 65,919 names
      talent agent  ~ 10,717 names
      transportation department  ~ 70,542 names
      visual effects  ~ 163,469 names
      writer  ~ 624,283 names

What you see when you do a search is not the primary profession, but the section/department on which the person worked, in the film for which that person is best known for (according to the site). This department does not necessarily have to match a primary profession nor even be the primary profession of the name.

E.g. James Galway. Professions: Music Department/Soundtrack/Actor. Best known for: Miscellaneous

Therefore, "Self" won't appear as a primary profession under your name... at least for now, sorry.

Hope it helps. Cheers!

Thank you, ljdoncel. That list is comprehensive, but wondering now if I should change my credit listing to another on that current list so my main profession reflects on IMDb accurately.

But WHICH one would fit - I have starred in several paranormal reality tv series as an internationally- known psychic medium, & psychic crime profiler.

Could an IMDb representative answer, as well, on this?

Carla, hi again.
Since this thread is unfortunately marked as "solved", it might be better to start anew if you believe, or better say "know for sure", that you've never been involved in other stand-ins and/or other acting (except "self" in documentaries or reality shows) that can be listed on IMDb under other similar names (profiles). In such case, it seems unreasonable to keep the only aside role of yours, moreover uncredited one, to shadow the main intensive activity on screen.

You can enter those appearances as an paranormal reality tv series as an internationally- known psychic medium, & psychic crime profiler into the database. If you appeared as yourself, you will have more "Self Credits." If you were given a character name, then they would be listed as an acting credit.

Those credits as "Self" with qualifier after - psychic medium, or psychic profiler have all been done already. ;)
