Greetings, Garðar.
If you go to IMDb Sire Preferences, you can set in which language will the film titles appear.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is an ITALIAN film, and therefore, its original title is Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo.

Nothing changes although I set "Title display country" as Iceland and "Title display language" as Icelandic.

Garðar: If you look at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060196/releaseinfo, you will see that there is no Icelandic title for this film listed yet. If I understand correctly, IMDb will display the original title of the film if they have no title to display in your preferred language (Icelandic).

But there is one thing that bothers me, why is there a full stop (period) at the end of that Italian title (Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo.)?

Apparently the original opening credits use a full stop at the end of the title, so IMDb copied that literally. See http://watchthetitles.com/articles/0094-The_Good_The_Bad_and_The_Ugly.
