I'm a 4D editor and it's a fairly new position in the film industry, considering LA Live just opened its first 4D theater in the U.S. If I work on a feature film as a 4D editor, am I still able to get credit on IMDB or is it for established positions only?
You are allowed to submit credits in occupations that are new to the database.
The job of "4D editor" should probably be submitted in the Editorial Department category.
While submitting the credit, you may get the following warning:
"The occupation '4D editor' should usually be lower case. Please change '4D editor' to '4d editor' unless you are sure it is correct."
If the standard format of the job is indeed "4D editor", you should check the box marked "Warning understood, go ahead anyway."
You may also get a warning that looks like this:
"'4D editor' is not one of the 5,341 existing jobs we have in this section. Did you mean one of these? ..." followed by a list of jobs.
In that case, you should select the option for "Add this as a new job."
Note that if possible, you should try to get a screen capture of the film's credits showing your name in the credits with the job "4D editor". This way, if you have difficulty getting the credit accepted, you will have proof that you can submit to IMDb if necessary. (See http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?additionalverification for an explanation.) You will not necessarily need the screen capture, but then again, you might need it.
