The description for these badges read:
Or is it that the term midnight is just ambiguous. I always thought of midnight as the start of the day but it seems it can refer to both the start and end of the day.
This badge is awarded for rating the entire IMDb Top 250 as of December 31st, midnight PST, 1996.Is this really what they mean? Midnight of December 31 would be the start of the last day of the year, not the end of it. I would assume they mean the end of December 31, or 11:59:59 pm. Or am I wrong and the top 250 for the year doesn't include ratings for the last day of the year?

Hi Adrian,
Please can you clarify where that text is listed? Are you referring to these lists? https://www.imdb.com/list/ls062249377/ If so then it looks like those are generated by a user and not directly by IMDb.
Regards,
Will

It's any of the pages like this. (I wouldn't think the yearly badge pages would be user generated.)

Apologies Adrian, this is a staff list, my mistake. Just to clarify the date refers to the start of the day of the last day of the year.

Is there a reason you exclude voting for the last day of the year? That seems just a bit odd (though I'm sure it may only affect the bottom spot.)
Also, I've wondered if this is cumulative voting, i.e. all votes up until December 31 of the year or just for the votes in that particular year.

Sorry if this is not clear, but the badge is defined as a snapshot of how the Top 250 looked on the last day of each year. It does not reflect every title in the year which was in the Top 250. It is NOT just the votes received in that year.

Thanks Col. I thought it was actually a typo (or misconception) based on what midnight was. I would have thought the snapshot would be at the very end of the day. Thanks for the clarification.
