I noticed something about the birthdays featured on IMDb homepage, there are generally 3 or 4 celebrities out of 5 who are not as iconic or popular as some you'd find if you click on 'See all birthdays' (which  nobody does, anyway).

For instance, for today, apart from Hollywood icon Debbie Reynolds, we have Asa Butterfield, Mackenzie Davis, Matt Lanter and Taran Killiam, okay, fine this is not a commentary on the quality of these performers but why not putingt instead of them : Toshiro Mifune, Barry Sonnenfeld, Ali McGraw or Wallace Beery, the birthday section is a good opportunity to remember some names that contributed to the history of cinema, so why spoiling it by only featuring contemporary people?

Elmo,

The sequence of the "Born Today" chart on IMDb Home Page is maintained by IMDb STARmeter. People with the higher IMDb page visit appears at the top.

On a single day we have seen that the first five names get changed multiple times. It is the effect of IMDb STARmeter.

You mean if it's the birthday of, say, Alfred Hitchcock, Ingmar Bergman, Al Pacino or Gene Hackman, they might not be in the homepage because of STARmeter system, is that right?

There is a possibility of that kind of situation. The current stars who are still active on their field get comparatively more page visits than the stars who are retired or dead.

(sigh) especially when there's no message board where you can visit a page 'just to talk'... I don't like the way things turned to.
