Dear Sir,
I am from India, but I have been following IMDB for years but only for Hollywood. Kindly tell me how do I view the normal version, like USA, and not the Indian version. Otherwise I will have to look for else where!

I'm accessing IMDB from India but am not interested in Indian movies (whether upcoming or trailers or whatever) but I find no way to disable this feature. This is killing my experience and extremely irritating.

Hi Hersh, Raj, and Dhvl,
Thanks for raising your concerns. Currently, there is no way of filtering out Indian moviecontent from the IMDb India Homepage. The Indian movie and celebrity content iscomplementary to the comprehensive Hollywood content coverage that we've beenproviding for years. We are continuing to showcase relevant US movie contentand news on IMDb. To see Hollywood news only, you may click on the 'Hollywood'tab within the Latest News section on the homepage. We are always updatingcontent and features based on what resonates most with customers. We'llcontinue to keep an eye on the content that gets most engagement, and willaccordingly update the IMDb homepage.
Best,
Kurt

What everyone up said + what raj said.
I don't come to IMDb for Indian content. I am more interested in Hollywood content, Indie movies, European movies, etc. There are a million sites for Indian content. I would quickly lose interest in IMDb if all I see everywhere is Indian trailers and Indian lists and Indian celebs.
Please have a setting to disable India specific content for those who don't want to see it.

Came here to say exactly what everybody is saying above. I am extremely unhappy with this change in the website. There ought to have been a simple option to change your home page to the international version. Now it is overrun by Bollywood news and celebrities. I have no interest in this, and I do not come to IMDb to read about these things.
Please please make changes to this. As a daily visitor of your website for the last 10 years at least, this is a big issue for me. The biggest problem is there is nowhere else I can go, but IMDb.

Hi Kurt
There are tons and tons of dedicated local websites and the news media that covers the Indian content and pester the netizens with unwanted gossip.
The only reason I am using IMDb is such that to know more about world cinema and TV.
Now your home page looks just like a crappy bollywood fan site that pay homage to the world cinema by dedicating a column or two. And who gives a fuck about real time trends in Indian movies when we already know the best movies playing around us , not to mention India is a diverse country that speaks multiple languages and local trends vary drastically like nowhere else in the world . Following this trend I believe you guys will even start Indian TV spotlights and trends...
(Nooooooo.......... Superman.jpg).
We appreciate the changes you guys did keeping the audience in mind but what you have actually done is destroying the only sanctuary we had.
Kindly roll back the change (you can keep a column or two for local content , not the other way around)
Please.... We don't want this.

The trending indian movies/celebrities on every title/person page is really annoying. If it has to be there, restrict it to Indian movies and persons. I would really prefer if that bar was gone altogether. It's really annoying. It breaks the flow of the page and is a distraction.

Anyone who is interested in removing "Trending Movies" Widget, you can follow simple tweak.
I have made a blog post here with step by step guide.
https://trekwho.quora.com/How-to-Block-Disable-Trending-Indian-Movies-on-IMDb
I agree with everyone here, that IMDb is not the best choice/option for Indian Movies/Content.
There are plenty of website doing these already. And, Frankly, Hardly any movies are good to be showcased as you do. If its for advertising then its a discussion.
Even on the homepage, I feel the balance is not right. Too much focus is placed on Local content.

Thanks for that. Just wanted to point out that one does not need a separate extension for this. If you have an ad-blocker extension, they usually have an element picker mode also.
But this only solves a very small part of the problem. We still have the ENTIRE main page to deal with. All the international trailers are gone and replaced with indian ones, that awful Indian movies live-ratings widget is there, and you have to scroll even further for the usual stuff like actor b'days, and recent releases and spotlight etc.
Its just so disappointing that a company like IMDb did not think through on this feature enough to make it optional. Not only is this a pain for Indians that came to IMDb for international cinema, but also for foreign tourists and the like, who will also have Indian content shoved down their throats involuntarily.

Yes, I agree completely.
Like I said before, this is only a tweak to make it less annoying, its not a solution.
Solution has to be provisioned by IMDb.

What a nightmare it is to now to navigate IMDB without being bombarded with this nonsense. Please give the option of disabling for the users and not go the route of Facebook in putting people in bubbles of what the algorithm think they like to see. The outliers that make IMDB an interesting place will be put off and will end up another cesspool of "trending" shit website. Been using IMDB for 10+ years, and that's because there's nothing "Indian" about it. It was neutral in its character.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why don't I have a choice to opt out of 'Trending India' hoopla?.
Since last three days my IMDb page has been surrounded by topics like 'Trending Indian movies', 'Top 10 Indian movies', 'Amitabh Bachchan quiz' etc. If I wanted to get connected with Bollywood and get these topics I would've searched for them or better yet have had the option to choose for my customized country-based experience. But instead I get this slapped on "desi effect" which is annoying at the very least and off-putting the whole site experience otherwise. If IMDb doesn't change or modify this feature then my fav. site for anything and everything entertainment-related will get ruined for me and others like me who come to this site to get away from the annoying and nauseating Bollywood movies.

As an addendum/clarification to my earlier post, I want to add that while I'd definitely quit using IMDb as my movie db if local content isn't disabled soon, I'd like to continue receiving movie suggestions for other non-english but non-indian movies.

How do I hide the new "India spotlight" sections of the IMDB website? I don't like Indian movies/TV at all and they're now in my face and impossible to ignore every time I visit the site. I tried changing my country in the account settings, but that didn't work.

Can't you see what everyone is expecting from IMDb, Col Needham? Please do not ruin our IMDb experience or simply we don't want to see India Spotlight on our IMDb homepage. Please do something about it ASAP. You may add option to change country.

Col: I'm in the USA. Whenever I go to a new name or title page on IMDb, I get a yellow banner that says "INDIA SPOTLIGHT: Discover movies and TV shows popular in India. Learn more." However, it only appears on screen for about 2 seconds before disappearing on its own. If I did want to go to the India page, I wouldn't have enough time to react to the banner and click on it.
So I don't think this banner is currently serving a purpose. If you are trying to promote the India Spotlight site to all users throughout the world, you should leave the banner on screen long enough to give people time to click on it. On the other hand, I personally don't plan to use the India Spotlight site on a regular basis, so I don't need to have it promoted to me at all.

Install a VPN proxy add-on/extension in your browser and request the non-India homepage. I'm using Touch VPN of chrome. It works like a charm!

Point is, one should not need to install a VPN to access content they want to see on a site as big as IMDb. Users should be given the option to choose what version of the website they want to see.

Are there any people who are welcoming this change? May be I'm looking in the wrong place, but would be interesting to know if anyone actually likes this.
Personally, if I were paying IMDB to access their website, this would be a good time to reconsider. Anyway, for now I'm using a workaround to access the regular site. But I hope IMDB listens to the popular voice and if not remove this thing, at least, give its users an option to choose the content they want to see.

You're missing the point. The point being to ASK the demographic or people they're targeting whether they actually need the change they made. Another point being to give an option to people who want the status quo. That's how anything works in a democratic environment. Making changes people don't want without any research or an opt-out is indicative of how little they think of the people they're serving their content to. Also, a vast majority of people here are asking for an opt out option, not moving something from top to bottom (haven't checked, I blocked all the India specific content using an ad blocker). Their silence about implementing an opt out is deafening.

With imdb India i am missing out info on all the latest awesome new movies and tv shows.I have zero interest in watching Indian content which are basically third rate rip-offs of American shows.I guess i'll have to solely depend on metacritic if this continues.

100% AGREE!
I've been suffering this 'Trending in India' click-bait nonsense for the past week.
It is utterly unnecessary to scroll past it all the time to get to what you searched for (it doesn't make IMDb feel 'localized' at all, btw, but more like some faraway US website that wants to cozy up, but has no idea how to start. This 'localization schtick' is the most horrendous thing they've done in years.. and is the most OBTRUSIVE way possible for their Indian IMDb clientele to navigate this site!).
Whoever came up with this utterrrrrrrly brilliant idea?
Fire them.
Give them money for their Starbucks and ricksaw, of course, when you point to the door...
But fire them. Immediatley.
And.. If it's too political to pull back so soon.. Chuck this nonsense on your right side-panel, far, far away from the scrolling up-and-down main panel (down the right coloum with User Polls and the like)
There are smarter ways to localize your website, also now that Amazon India is doing so well...
This though, is seriously not it.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Fallback to old IMDB UI.
I access IMDB from India, Before update the old IMDB used to show top movies of Hollywood and upcoming movies and all that Hollywood info, I hate bollywood(indian movies) and I don't follow it. but now in new IMDB interface all I see is bollywood info see below screen shot

This is useless to me as I am not interested in it. I tried to change site preference but no effect.

It would be real great to some of us people if you allow to switch back to other country's interface by region setting or may be allow to switch to older interface or may be disable regional setting somehow.
Thank you
