IMDB Primary Image: Lack of Moderation

As a regular editor of content on IMDb I'd like to state a problem that current exists in your website. I'm talking about the lack of moderation on the choice of the primary posters, the website is currently a mess, rules states that the right choice should always be the official theatrical release poster from movie's country of origin, yet posters from other countries and even fanmade posters keep being accepted as the main poster.

I could go on...

For example on some video game series like the Mortal Kombat, someone deleted the entirety of their poster on all the games, replaced with a random screenshot on all entries, which makes me wonder... why botter at all in trying to keep the right choice in check for these movies if the moderation is so poor.

To make matters worst, some companies are deciding to replace movie posters with cheap images of their bluray case like Witness for the Prosecution https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0051201

I for one, I'm probably never bothering with these edits anymore unless there's an improvement in the moderation.

If you are a regular contributor then you should know how easy it is to change the main title poster image. These are not locked in on a lot of older titles. I looked at Seven Samurai and yes the original poster art is not being used. And this is not locked because there is no request to lock it in by the production company. So people keep switching it. As far as "moderation" goes, it is not IMDb's decision to block a change if it meets eligibility guidelines.

that's exactly what I'm talking about, there should be a tighter moderation, there's tons of submissions that make no sense whatsoever and they get accepted, its a total anarchy right now and it makes me wanna quit contributing to it

When you make a single submission that you see has been changed with frequency why not devote a single post and address it here. Ask if the staff will lock it in. All the can do is give one of two answers.
Make the submission, post the 18 digit number for the correction and ask for the lock.

Hi Movienaut,

We do not regularly lock primary images as often a better quality version may be submitted to us at a later date, which we wouldn't want to block.

If you have an example where the primary image is regularly being changed to the incorrect version then please let us know and we can take further internal action on the title.

Ok, I understand,

So, Seven Samurai is an obvious example of that: tt0047478 that is probably a fanmade poster, this is the right choice: rm2518563840 and it keeps being changed every week or so.
