Due to Facebook policy, IMDb will no longer automatically post Watchlist Adds, Ratings, and Check-ins to users Facebook accounts.

Users may continue to share and like movies and people on IMDb and those will be posted to their Facebook account as before

that explains why it's not working, but i still don't understand why all my past posts from IMDb including personal conversations on those links were deleted from my account without any prior advice or my authorization. that's really weird. i understand that IMDb could removed the images related to them or something like it, but not the personal conversations going on those links. that's a violation of privacy.

Oh. So this option will not return? I had hoped it was just temporary. But yes, the connection with Facebook has been buggy since the start.

For example, I tried re-authorizing my Facebook account, but this doesn't work anymore either. I've removed the app from Facebook, but on IMDB, it still says my account is linked, which is strange.

Facebook was responsible for deleting previously shared watchlist adds, ratings and check-ins. You should contact them directly via https://www.facebook.com/help/ with any questions or concerns regarding their new policy.

Tim,
The next version of our app will pre-fill just the Twitter sharing dialog again.

That's not necessarily true.

That's staff, by the way, that you're replying to. He knows what he's talking about.

I respect not posting to Facebook automatically, even if it doesn't really make sense if I choose to link my accounts, but what I don't understand is not offering to post to Facebook if I WANT to...even if I have to confirm this each and every time....

Posting should be brought back ASAP...especially with GetGlue and TVTag gone...  One of the main reasons I would do anything on IMDb was to share it with my FB community as well.

Posting is still possible. The only thing we cannot do at the moment is to autofill the post for you. You'll need to fill on the post youself (e.g. just rated this 7/10, etc.)

Rottentomatoes allows to share movie ratings. I've checked right now. I don't understand why IMDB says It's a FB Policy related problem when other similar webs havent it.

It is up to FB on how they implement their policy. Apparently, some are exempt. The decision lies entirely with FB. Until they permit us to share ratings, we will be unable to do so. The best place to voice your concerns is to FB directly.... we cannot change their policy or how they choose to apply it.

@Yann, thanks for the reply. But if facebook cared for answering users... For years I have albums of mine blocked for ME, tried many times to solve this issue and had zero answers from them or solution.
If IMDb can't post automatically anymore, fine, but contacting facebook/help is not a way to solve this.
Since the policy states that the app can't fill the comment on the post automatically, IMDb could create a share button with the pre filled text so we could just confirm. This wouldn't be violating the policy and would solve everyone's problem.
What do you think?

To clarify: You can still share links. However, IMDb can no longer pre-populate posts with text (e.g. your rating). You'll need to manually enter that from now on.

Anan,
Please read the posts above from staff. This was disabled by Facebook. You're explaining the same problem that has been reported and then responded to by staff, above. You can share links but cannot share your ratings as before.

Your comment has been explained several times above (starting with the first reply of this thread).

This is completely untrue. I am looking at my friend's facebook wall right now and it says "rated this movie 7/10 stars." This is from 6 hours ago. His ratings from yesterday and the day before show up as well, and look exactly the same as always. As you can see from the attached photo, this functionality still works. We just need IMDb to tell us how to correct the issue. They did not disable this feature, nor did Facebook.

Lindsay,
Facebook may have missed your friends ratings posts, or they may be queued for future deletion. Regardless, the issue is entirely in Facebook's hands. You should contact them directly via https://www.facebook.com/help/ with any questions or concerns regarding their new posting policy.

I was able to find additional details regarding the new FB policy.
The issue relates specifically to Facebook Platform Policy 2.3:

"Words in the user message field must be composed by the user and can’t be pre-filled by the app, even if the user can edit or delete the words."
See platform policy 2.3 here.

A video describing the situation regarding prefilling the message parameter can be found here.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Share IMDb Ratings to Facebook Wall Broken.

As of today the really nice feature of sharing my IMDb ratings to Facebook no longer works. Nothing shows up on my Facebook page if I rate a movie.  I didn't touch any of my settings and my IMDb is still linked to my Facebook account  In addition to that my entire history of ratings on my Facebook wall is missing. I've been sharing my movie ratings for the past year so needless to say I am very angry about this. Please look into this and get this fixed.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Facebook+and+Twitter+ratings+header+gone+in+iPhone+ipad+version.

Usually when I post my ratings via Twitter and facebook, my friends/followers get the usual "I rated XXX 3/10 stars" header.
Now it's completely gone. I am speaking on behalf of the iOS version of IMDB.

Thanks ahead of time to customer support-you guys/gals are always on top of things.

The next version of our app will pre-fill just the Twitter sharing dialog again. I can send anyone an invite to install the pre-release version to help test it out. Just send an email to iphone@imdb.com asking to be added as a beta tester.

Hello, I was a user of our Facebook-IMDB ratings sharing and it was quite useful. However, if this doesn't work anymore, why don't you specify it on the link https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb... ?

Damion,
What exactly do mean by "IMDb has stopped posting to Facebook all together". You should still be able to open a facebook share dialog and write your own post. If Facebook has completely eliminated our ability to post, this is news to me.

Apparently it is FaceBook which has disallowed this service. The question should be posed to that site.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. A month later but it's okay. I've found the share button far more useful than the automatic post to wall feature. It's actually been fun writing mini reviews.

Doesn't make up for losing more than a years worth of ratings on my wall though. A big fail for both companies there.

This does not make sense. It only says the user has to be in control of the message parameter, not the post itself. So the rating could be a post.
