IMDb will not create new name

A few days ago I was updating the "Thanks" section on the film The Relationtrip (2017).  One of the names that was submitted was "Robert Hughes."  I could not find an existing Robert Hughes on IMDb that I was sure matched, so I was trying to create a new name.  The IMDb system told me that the new name would be "Robert Hughes (XLVII)"

However, when I checked the result of the submission, the credit was added to an existing Robert Hughes, one with the same number (XLVII).  Apparently there was already an existing profile with that Roman numeral, and this credit does not belong to that person so it shouldn't have been added to their profile.

So what really needed to happen was to create Robert Hughes (XLVIII), but for some reason IMDb will not do this.

I have tried multiple ways to get Robert Hughes (XLVIII) created with this credit:

1) I have tried re-adding the credit (while simultaneously deleting the existing credit from the wrong profile)

2) I have tried splitting the name Robert Hughes (XLVII) since this is the only credit that profile has in the "Thanks" section.

However, whenever I try to attempt either of these solutions, IMDb tells me that the new name is going to be Robert Hughes (XLVII), not Robert Hughes (XLVIII).

For some reason, IMDb seems to be unable to create Robert Hughes (XLVIII).

Do you know this person (or someone who does)? Could you ask him that is his name on IMDb? In that way you could perhaps find the "correct" Robert Hughes. Sometimes you need to do a bit of research with some of the names.

Hi Vincent-P -

I have now manually moved the credit to a new listing here.  Concerning the issue trying to move the credit to a new page, I was able to duplicate the issue you experienced while submitting the credit split, I will add your comments to the existing ticket (mentioned by Tom) that addresses this issue.

Otherwise, this credit issue should now be resolved.  Cheers!

Thanks, I have found another instance of this occurring.  I am updating the credits for "Ride or Die" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4501562/).  I need to add the name "Evan Rogers" to the "Other Crew" section.  This is a new Evan Rogers who does not match any of the existing persons.

The IMDb system is giving the option "This is a different person not currently listed - create 'Rogers, Evan (VI)'."

Except there is already an Evan Rogers (VI).  it should be offering to create Evan Rogers (VII).

Hi Vincent-P -

I have filed a new ticket for our tech staff and have included the examples you provided on this post.

In the meantime, I have manually created a new page for the credit here.  The page is still processing so check the page in a few hours.

Hello,
I think something has gone wrong with the fix.

Example:

I noticed this IMDb profile has a name that does not follow IMDb Guidelines, because it includes honorifics in the Profile Name:

Sgt. Joe Luciano Wpbpd http://www.imdb.com/name/nm9085014/

I am trying to submit a correction to change the Name to "Joe Luciano," removing the improper honorifics.

Now, IMDb already has a "Joe Luciano," and they are not the same person, so the name actually needs to be changed to "Joe Luciano (II)."

However, the Name Change system is not giving me an option for "Joe Luciano (II)."  The only option it wants to give me is to merge with the existing Joe Luciano, which would not be a correct action to take.

There is no option for "Correct the name to 'Luciano, Joe (II)' - do not merge it with another name."

Instead it says, "Correct the name to 'Luciano, Joe' - do not merge it with another name." which is contradictory, since changing the name to "Luciano, Joe" would inherently merge it with the existing name.
