IMDb should buy Rotten Tomatoes. That would be a great synergy system. And really profitable. More than staying rivals

It's a matter of benefits. Regarding everybody. We would benefit from the advantage of having all the latest movie knowledge and industry contacts, linked to the best globalized review database. In a really easy way. All in the same place. Or well, maybe it's more profitable if they keep on being 2 different websites, remaining the same business behind. And they, well, you know, they'll just get more and more money.

But, of course, they won't. Competence is necessary I suppose. If I were IMDb CEO, and had money, I'll seriously think bout it.

IMDb already licenses information from MetaCritic [http://www.metacritic.com/] and displays it at the top of each film page when available. For example, this is the information displayed for Iron Man 3 (2013)
Metascore: 62/100
Reviews: 631 user | 349 critic | 43 from Metacritic.com
Metacritic provides similar information to Rotten Tomatoes.

If you could provide a sufficiently detailed business case with information on payback period, internal rates of return and risk. Amazon.com may consider your suggestion.

It looks like Metacritic and IMDB have a deal where they supply the average reception and we give them movie information. I suspect, as it'd be mutually beneficial it'd be a tricky one to break, especially if the alternative involves significant outlay of cash as they'd presumably need to buy Flixter too (not that Amazon are shot of a bob or two but still this seems a much more low cost arrangement - however, if Amazon wanted to take out some of the competition in streaming video...).
