IMDB TOP 250

I referred IMDB page about IMDB TOP 250 and according to it i calculated a rating of a movie-"http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2199711/" and according to me ,it should be included in IMDB TOP 250,but its not.why is it?

I'm assuming you intended a different film than Vishwaroopam (2013) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2199711/ ], which does not even have five votes.

As indicated at the IMDb Top 250 Films page, only votes from regular IMDb voters are considered when creating the top 250 out of the full voting database. This explains any difference between the vote averages reported in the top 250 and those on the individual movie pages. This also explains why movies you might think from their averages ought to appear on the list yet do not actually appear there.

To maintain the effectiveness of the top 250 list, we deliberately do not disclose the criteria used for a person to be counted as a regular voter.

Please be aware that the Top 250 list (and the Bottom 100 chart) only include theatrical features: shorts, TV movies, miniseries and documentaries are not included in those charts. Top-rated documentaries are listed in a separate chart.

The film's rating is displayed on the main title page and the ratings page, but not on the reference view pages nor on IMDbPro.

The rating of this film was discussed before after it was claimed to be the result of vote stuffing.

@Dan Dassow, here clearly its given that "http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2199711/" i.e. Vishwaroopam-2013 has currently 28,857 votes (at time of my comment)

What DD was referring to was the minimum number of votes to display a title's rating, which is usually 5. The fact that this has 28k votes and isn't displaying the vote is interesting, as it was previous flagged up by users as being the target of a vote stuffing campaign (there are some odd patterns to the votes, for example, that you don't see elsewhere).

I looked at the combined view for Vishwaroopam (2013) [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2199711/c... ] and mistakenly concluded it had no votes.

@Dan Dassow so its clear that Vishwaroopam has 28,857 votes and it has weighed rating of 9.0 and according to rule to be in IMDB TOP 250 it should be in IMDB TOP 250 but yet it is not included in IMDB TOP 250 list which is unnatural to happen

As already quoted, "only votes from regular IMDb voters are considered when creating the top 250." So there is no way for you to calculate that the film should be in the top 250.

In addition to that, since there is something unusual about the display of the rating for this title it is possible that IMDb has taken some kind of action against it.

@Peter ok. Lets take an example.Take a look at 218th rank http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083922/ FANNY AND ALEXANDER which has 25971 votes or users who have voted.So according to you 25000 votes were from regular voters and only 971 votes were from normal or who are not regular voters?

It is unusual that the rating is displayed only on some of the pages where ratings are usually displayed. It seems like a bug, but it's possible that it has something to do with the claims of vote stuffing.

I do not claim any particular knowledge about how the formula or the regular voters selection works.

So don't you think that this issue should be notified to IMDb authorities who looks to these issue.Its certainly unusual that a movie which passes all the rules to be in IMDb Top 250 is not included.I just brought this to notice because it is first movie exceeding 25000 votes and a weighed rating of 9.0 is not on the list
