Incomplete list of plot summaries by author

On plot summary pages, named authors of entries are linked to a sortable list of all their plot submissions. So my list is here: http://www.imdb.com/search/title?plot_author=AliasX&view=simple&sort=alpha . Yet it is missing a fair number of my entries:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7423202/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7541580/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt7456322/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5424652/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5192540/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4845014/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6610290/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt6417704/plotsummary
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4643920/plotsummary
(and maybe a few more)

And on the untrimmed alias I previously used, this entry http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4997306/plotsummary does not appear on http://www.imdb.com/search/title?plot_author=AliasX43605621&view=simple&sort=alpha either.

Could this be fixed please?
And if it's not too much trouble, could my entry on tt4997306 be trimmed to AliasX as well, so that it should appear in the same list?
Thanks.

Without having checked all of them, it looks like the missing ones are 'outlines', which explains why they are not in the list of your summaries.

But since both types are now displayed on summary pages, it would make sense to include them.

You can probably edit your 'by' line in the update form.

I tried that (update 171029-072304-334000) but it was not approved (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4997306/plotsummary).  Could an editor approve this manually as yet? Thanks.

It's only been a few days, and there seems to be a backlog in processing plot submissions.

Hey,

Thanks for the post.

Peter is spot on with his diagnosis, all of the links you've provided above are for Plot Outlines as opposed to Plot Summaries - you'll need to submit these to the Summary section before they're listed in the URL you've provided.

This can be done via the Edit Page button listed at the bottom of the pages.

Hope this helps!

That is, if they are written to be longer. The difference between a plot outline and a plot summary is their length. Here's the guide: https://contribute.imdb.com/updates/guide/plot

I already did: many of my plot entries came as part of new title submissions, and I always entered them in the Plot Summary field. But short ones were moved -- automatically or by a data editor -- into the Outline field, as your and Peter's explanations clarified. That also correlates with Marco's observation above. So yes I could try to move my plot entries, but I suspect the effort would be futile.

So there is a confusing inconsistency between the user-side/visible presentation of plot summaries and outlines (they are both grouped under the heading
Summaries on /plotsummary pages), and the admin interface where they are entered separately and without the contributor being able to fully control in which section.
And the linked username under public summaries and outlines then goes to a search/title?plot_author= list where only one of the two types is included.

So one -- preferable -- solution would be to implement Peter's suggestion above and make the ?plot_author= list include both types.
Another -- awkward -- solution would be to split out Summaries and Outlines on titles' /plotsummary pages, and link user names under those respective entries to separate ?plot_summary_author= and ?plot_outline_author= lists.

Either way, I hope IMDb will put effort into closing this confusing loophole.

My most recent summary (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5983248/plotsummary) is 290+ characters, shows up in Plot Summaries on the admin side, but is not listed in the http://www.imdb.com/search/title?plot_author=AliasX&view=simple&sort=alpha table, which seems stuck at 9 entries no matter what.

Is this a query bug, or...? IMDb, please look into this, thanks.

It's there now. I guess the search feature is a bit slow to sync with new additions.
