International English AKAs are not showing on main title pages anymore, for the past few days at least. Only titles that have specific country AKAs show now, while many titles that only have the "International English title" attribute are now displaying only the original foreign title. Specific country AKAs have always correctly overridden international AKAs, but many, many titles only have the "international" attribute, which should show when there is nothing more specific.

Here are a few examples of Top 250 titles that this applies to:
Oldboy: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/
A Separation: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1832382/
Pan's Labyrinth: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457430/
A Fistful of Dollars: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058461/
Ip Man: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220719/

In lists and subpages, the international English titles still show - just not on the main title pages.

Please fix this bug.

Any acknowledgement that IMDB staff are now aware of this and going to fix it?

Not yet.

This is an old problem:

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

That seems to have suddenly come back again:

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topi...

I'd guess the technical staff have changed something while working on the site and will change it back. Staff here will chip in when they have worked out if this is a problem and got a word to the code monkeys.

My LANGUAGE is ENGLISH, I set the LOCATION to UK. I am currently in Slovakia. The point here is that IMDB, like Google, think they are so frigging smart by using ip-based delivery and yet so often this is frigging useless.

How about you just show EVERYTHING according to the settings rather than where you think people are in the world?  I am fed up seeing the wrong frigging title.

I AM ENGLISH. I READ ENGLISH. I SPEAK ENGLISH. I WAS BORN IN ENGLAND. I LIVE ELSEWHERE BUT I STILL READ AND SPEAK ENGLISH.

This also affects ALLMYMOVIES lookup.  You reckon you can fix it? Seeing as people have now been asking for years you should actually listen to the people who made this site as popular as it is, don't you think?  Or is that a little hard to do?

Never had this problem when the thing first started!

Thanks for those, although it'd be an idea to edit your post and remove the line break markup as it is breaking your links.

Dang and I thought I was being clever remembering the HTML codes. Unfortunately it is not giving me any option to edit... I only just joined for these comments so maybe I have not earned edit rights!

I see that edit option with my comment above and for my post in the other thread but not for the post I want to edit here. Maybe a glitch to do with having bad HTML?

If this is still occurring, please provide the following details so we can investigate:

1) which page are you looking at (complete URL)?
2) what do you think is wrong/missing with it?
3) what is your geographical location?
4) are you logged into your account?
5) what are your title display preferences set to? (what are "title display language" and "title display country" set to when you go to https://secure.imdb.com/register-imdb... )

Thanks.

1) http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt1392214
2) As I use the akas version of imdb URL (as the IMDb help pages suggests), I should see the original title (Prisoners), not the Polish one (Labirynt)
3) Poland
4) No
5) Not important because of 4)

What happened with this problem? It's still here as far as I can see. I've stopped using imdb because of this,  but from time to time I log in to check and are sadly reminded about this forced language thing. It's extremely annoying...

Same here.
There was another thread about the same problem and it's lasted for months.
With this one, the problem is more than a year old, and the IMDB staff hasn't done anything to fix that!
What's wrong with you, what are you waiting for to fix the problem?

I believe all titles display wrong because of the same reason, someone should take the time and check any of those posted here, they are all equally bad. Apparently, no one cares that imdb has become semi-usable.

There is something really wrong with IMDB.com. That problem has been lasting for months and is still not fixed, that's unbelievable, especially when the solution to fix the problem is so easy: get rid of that damn IP check.

The problem is that the titles are displayed according to the IP and not the "Site Preferences". The personnal settings should always prevail over that IP check, otherwise what's the point of having them if they are not used?

1) random examples:
http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0120876/
['Ein traumhaftes Missverständnis' instead of 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart']
http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0264235/
['Lass es, Larry!' instead of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm']
etc.
2)
I have akas.imdb bookmarked and to be fair, most of it is displayed in English, but German titles are now turning up in almost every actor's movie list.
3)
Germany
4)
No [and seeing that this is apparently a problem that cannot even be circumvented by a plus account, I'm not really enticed to register]
5)

Same still here
1) For example:
http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt0374455/
http://akas.imdb.com/title/tt1286039/
http://akas.imdb.com/find?q=stargate&...

2) Titles are in polish instead of english:
"Gwiezdne Wrota: Atlantyda" should be "Stargate: Atlantis"
"Gwiezdne Wrota: Wszechswiat" should be "SGU Stargate Universe
On the search result (third link) some titles are displayed in english other are in polish (various appearences of "gwiezdne wrota" instead of "stargate").

3) Poland
4) Yes
5) United States/English

Simple advice to IMDB programmers.
The problem is that for UK or US films, people specify something like
"(original title)  The Great Gatsby"
But don't specify UK or USA
That's why I'll have the french title displayed even though I put "USA" as my Title Display Country

So instead of having
Title display country non existent ==> Display title of user's country

Change your code to
Title display country non existent ==> Display World-Wide
if World-wide non existent either  ==> Display Original

In most cases it'll do the trick

The problem is still there. I have set all options to English and Great Britain but IMDB still insists on translating titles into Swedish. 29 June 2014...
