The new homepage is designed to help IMDb customers find what to watch right now, tonight, or this weekend — and where to find the best movies and TV shows for them, whether in theaters, on TV, or across a variety of streaming services (including IMDb TV, Prime Video, HBO, Starz, Showtime, Acorn TV, and PBS). Customers will benefit from a new recommendation engine that leverages implicit and explicit behavior to offer relevant and timely suggestions.

Can't believe it's still showing US stuff despite my location being set to UK.

There's an ad for Killing Eve on AMC whereas it's on the BBC here in the UK

OK, I'm not sure why you think this is an improvement but your new homepage experience makes it completely impossible to use IMDb for its core features:
  1. Going "mobile first" with large graphics and block layout might work for a site primarily focused on media consumption, but that is not what IMDb is about. It is about providing information about movies -- and with the new layout getting a clear, detailed overview of information about movies is impossible.
  2. The site is dreadfully slow, even on my 6-core 3.6 GHz desktop CPU. I don't see how this will do well on devices that your new design is obviously catering to.
  3. None of the movie clips, trailers, etc. play anymore, because apparently you are now requiring EME (Google DRM) even for trailers and clips that are public?! What on earth are you thinking? My browser of choice excludes in-browser DRM, and it shouldn't be required for the movie information you provide. Please stop pushing Google's DRM agenda.

With the updated imdb.com homepage, are there plans to re-introduce full-fledged versions of imdb desktop/mobile website in other languages? Prior to February 2013, there were a number of different fully-localized versions of imdb such as IMDb.de, IMDb.fr, IMDb.it, IMDb.ua etc. which were all chopped and now redirect to imdb.com; more about it here https://getsatisfaction.com/imdb/topics/translated_sites_now_redirecting_to_imdb_com )

As a web designer, I have to say the new homepage is one of the most unnavigable, slower-than-molasses-loading pages I've ever seen. The layout, as just about everyone has said, is atrocious.  The UI is clunky.  You will probably lose homepage entry page hit counts since most everyone will no doubt use another IMDB page as their main bookmark (I know I have).  This will most certainly throw off future web analytics negatively.

Bad design.  Total crap.

At the very least, offer your loyal users an alternate "Classic View" option button.

I second the 'Classic View' suggestion.

Dibs,

I think most users do.

I came back to these boards after a lengthy hiatus to complain about the new layout.

I would say it's made for ADHD millennials, but I *am* an ADHD millennial, and I hate it as much as everyone else does.

But I'm an ADHD Senior Citizen. Where's my category?  I had ADHD before they called it that!
And yes the home page is still annoying. And I still avoid it.
I used to look at the days birthdays. Won't do it anymore.
I used to look at the news articles. Won't do it anymore.
I used to look at the Coming Attractions. Won't do it anymore.
I Just Won't do it anymore.

Ed,

Did you have the "MBD" diagnosis?

Gosh, you're old. :D

I'm the opposite. Substitute Maximum in your MBD, and you got me.
I have met several people that have been diagnosed with ADHD.
ADHD is Bogus. Most individuals that are diagnosed as ADHD, just actually are capable of learning at an accelerated rate. So when confined to learn at a slow pace they get agitated and lash out and get labelled as hyperactive. So what does society do? Drug them into La La Land. They make them docile through drugs. There needs to be an overhaul of psychological practices in the treatment of ADHD. These persons need to learn at their rate. No everyone else's.
I'm lucky.
I was fortunately accepted into a Vocational Technical High School. I was not originally  going to be able to go because I had a "D" average in middle school. But I was not going to be daunted. I had a guidance counselor that knew I was smart. She requested that I be retested. Without any lead time to study, I took all the tests for that grade level (8th grade) and actually scored a B- average. In Tech High School I was an A student all four years. It's amazing what an ADHD person can do when the right triggers are present.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Whatever happened to the Classic IMDB of a few years ago?.

You used to be able to type in an actors name or a movie title and be directed to IMDB which provided background information, acting credits, trivia, and even personal (marriages etc.) in varying degrees of depth depending on the length of an actors career.  It was quick, easy & free for a casual fan of TV, movies and actors and actresses who liked to know more about these people who made an impression through their various roles over the years.  That Classic IMDB has vanished.  If it's still available I'd like to know where to find it.  I feel like Rip Van Winkle who has just woken up and "I'm not in Kansas anymore"!

Nelson Haffner,
Just because the homepage changed doesn't mean the whole site is gone. The search box is still there, and still works great to do what you described. I certainly use it that way.

And that search box is at the very top now. Not down the page like on the old home page.
Also it works a little faster than before.

I've removed the home page from the tabs that open when I launch Chrome. I've put a bookmark for the Search Bar page on my bookmarks toolbar, and that's how I use IMDB these days, only when I need to look something up. They've completely lost my daily views with their abysmal redesign. I wonder how many people have done the same and what this means to their page traffic.

Why are the same post sometimes shown twice on the homepage?

Reloading the page will fix it, but it comes back again after a couple of reloads.
