(Why don't / Do) we have an 'Top Rated Series' section just like the 'Top Rated Movies'? It will be great to have all the series sorted according to their ratings. Also, we could have top series categorized by genres, years, etc. to make the search finer.
P.S : I could see a conversation from around 6 months back talking about a beta 'Top TV shows' list, but not sure what happened of it.

Hey Mohit,

Do we have an 'Top Rated Series' section just like the 'Top Rated Movies'?

Just like?  Not sure if it qualifies as "just like", but for all intents and purposes, yes, we do. It's here, http://www.imdb.com/chart/toptv/. You'll find it linked from the black banner on the main page, title /name pages, etc.. In the same,

Movies, TV
& Showtimes

dropdown menu where you find, under the Movies section, the Top Movies link, check the TV & Video section. There you'll find the link for

Top Rated TV Shows

Explanation of the parameters that affect which shows qualify for the list appears at the bottom of the list and are as follows:

The Top Rated TV Shows list only includes TV series and TV mini series.

  • The list is ranked by a formula which includes the number of ratings each show received from users, and value of ratings received from regular users
  • To be included on the list, a series or mini series must receive ratings from at least 5000 users, and a TV series must also have aired at least 5 episodes
Sort by options include:
Ranking
IMDb Rating
Release Date
Number of Ratings
Your Rating
and there's a sidebar that breaks things down by genre. I believe this covers most of your requests.

Thanks Mayor, got it!
Also, found out that you can click on TV in the 'MoviesTV
Showtimes' link just next to the IMDB main logo. :)

Just a small doubt though, why not have this link just below the top rated movies in the footer tab? That way, we can directy access this link from any page just like the top rated movies link.

Not sure...staff would have to answer to why's/why nots.  But I would assume it's because the TV list is newish and no one thought to add it there...yet.  Or, (relatively) few users look down there and click those links.  You could suggest it (start a new thread in the "idea" category).

Of note, if you click the link there for movies, the "charts" will appear on the right of the screen...so it's there, though not described in the link, and one more click away.

Exactly my idea was to maybe keep it clear and somewhere visible on the main page.
