iPhone app keeps crashing at startup

Hi there, unfortunately I have updated the IMDb app today for the third time in a row and it still keeps crashing every time I try to open it. The only way it works is after I delete it and install it again. The next time I try to open it, it crashes again. I attached a screenshot: this is as far as I come.

I'm using iOS 10.3.1 on an iPhone 6s in Germany. I'm really hoping you can help me out here as I've been waiting for weeks now for a new version of the app to fix this.

We've reproduced the problem and are working on a fix. In the meantime, you should be able to follow these steps to fix the problem until we release an update:

1. Delete and reinstall the IMDb app
2. When it asks you if you want to enable notifications, answer "Not Now"

Thank you for your quick reply and that workaround; it did work indeed. I didn't even have to reinstall the app anymore, just deactivated the notifications. 

But I've been using them to get the newest trailers, so obviously, this is not a satisfactory solution. I hope you can fix it quickly. :)

Thanks for the additional information, our technical team is currently working on resolving the main issue here so that the solution given prior will not be permanately, as soon as we have an update, I'll respond here.

I updated the app today already and it seems to be working again! I haven't gotten any notification yet, but I turned them back on and the app is not crashing.

It's so good to be using it again. Thanks for the terrific support!

I've got the same problem. Never had it before the latest IMDB update (last week). We've used IMDB for years but the latest version (last week) hangs during (and sometimes right after) the yellow opening screen.

We've reinstalled 3 times also cleared all the data (in Settings) but nothing's worked.

Every other app is working fine.

We are runnng iOS 10.3.3 (that's the latest iOS this IPad can handle).

Hi MintAlan,

Yes - this is a different issue than the one described above, and we have a fix for it. Look out for a release shortly with the crash fix.
