Is this a valid title per IMDB rules?

AMC Visionaries: Eli Roth's History of Horror. I was told, when trying to add Marvel's Spider-man, not to use brand names. So, the "AMC Visionaries" probably should be dropped but I don't see that in the title formating guide. I do see this "Author or filmmaker possessives such as Bram Stoker's Dracula, Disney's The Kid, or Andy Warhol's Flesh are used only in alternate titles with the attribute (complete title) unless it is a part of the joke i.e. Jane Austen's Mafia! or Monty Python's Flying Circus." which seems to mean that Eli Roth's should be dropped as well.

So, should the display title be "History of Horror" with the other moved to complete title or some other AKA?

Adrian,

I hope your question will be answered considering the other series under the AMC Visionaries banner (Robert Kirkman's Secret History of Comics Release Info/AKA page).

Is "AMC Visionaries" displayed on screen in the title sequence? I don't see that name used in the official site or the trailer I watched.

Hi all,

This is an interesting case. The possessive should never be entered as a part of the primary title. However, in certain cases, where the possessive helps to identify an otherwise ambiguous title, we will allow the possessive title to be added as the (imdb display title) as opposed to the otherwise (complete title). This should only be submitted as (imdb display title) if the possessive title is how the title is commonly referred to in that specific country. I've also updated the guide to list this slight tweak to the existing policy guidelines.

In the above examples I've removed the possessive from the primary title but added the (imdb display title) possessive versions for the USA. As Peter says above does the AMC Visionaries appear on screen? I've also checked trailers for both and seen no mention of it. If it does then I'd suggest adding it as the (complete title) as it doesn't seem that the AMC Visionaries part of the title is used when widely referring to those shows, at least in the US.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Will

Well then the answer is quite obvious, isn’t it? It should probably stay as an alternate title, though (if that’s used in some sources).
