I know that for IMDb pages (character, actor, etc.) you can use '[link=]' and it shows the title of the page as opposed to the URL, but is there a way to give titles to external links?

Oddly you can use a form of the [link=] code to do just that on lists, so they have the regular expressions required to parse this type of BBcode, like:

[link=http://bbc.co.uk]Visit Auntie[/link]

However, I don't believe this has been implemented on the message board yet, although you can use [link=] on lists too, so there is plenty of crossover and it is a surprise you can't do it. I am hoping the [link=] shortcut is a step to fully introducing [link=][/link] on the message boards. I think it'd be worth a suggestion as it can't be that difficult to implement.

This is the place to post suggestions, but you should submit it using the "Idea" tag in the main post.
