I need to update my profile to reflect my resume and experience, but so far I've not been able to do without creating multiple identities for myself, and I just don't have time to fix it. I'd be willing to throw a couple hundred bucks at someone would sit down with me for an hour or 2, who knows exactly how to navigate around, help me remove the multiple ID's, and just help me create a pro-looking IMDB page. Anybody out there like this?

Thanks, jghedge@earthlink.net

Hi Joe -

We don't currently offer any type of consulting service, but I am happy to take a look at the situation and help you as best I can.

I see that there are several listings on the site under "Joe Hedge", do all these listings belong to you?

Yes they do. I need to consolidate those into just one listing, but mainly I'd just like to have someone who understands the profile/posting interface to coordinate with me in person. It doesn't necessarily have to be an IMDB employee, but of course that'd be good...

There are several active members within this community that may contact you directly to help further.

In the meantime, I have gone ahead and requested a merge of all your pages to a single listing. If this problem occurs again, you can find specific instructions on how to merge pages here:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I see. Looking it up, it seems to be one of those problems where the first name/surname split has gone wrong, so you have:

II, Glen S. Wade
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5540978/

Wade II, Glen S.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5753812/

I have requested a merge of the second entry to the first (as this was the earlier one), although I think the second name is the right one, so also added a note asking for the name of the first entry to be change to match the second one.

Staff, the ID is:

130708-233449-247000

Should all go through fine though.

I appreciate you for taking out the time and seeing the root of the problem. I feel confident that it will all work out in the end. Thanks for taking care of that for me!

No worries - as I had to do a little digging I was half to submitting the change anyway and explaining what to do next would have taken longer.

If it hasn't come through in a week or two then bump the thread and staff can look into it.

Joe, just fire away with any questions you have - there are folks around here who can probably help you with whatever you need to do (for free - I'm sure you can hire someone through freelancing websites but there is nothing they can do which we can't, and there are staff, like Michelle, here too who have access to more tools and access than anyone you can hire).

Michelle seems to have sorted out the merge issue, which is easy to resolve if you run into it:

http://www.imdb.com/help/show_leaf?na...

So what else needs fixing?

I won't know until the updates are successful, usually it takes a few days, correct?

Is it possible to just come in to the office and sit down with someone? I'd definitely make it worth their while

Might take a little longer, although perhaps because it is Michelle it might go through quicker.

I can't really help there (as you are an awful long way from me) but I very much doubt there is anything we can't easily talk you through. Not that I want to steal money from a local freelancer (especially if they are on here), but I'd imagine it'd be money for old rope, as most things people want to do on here either can't be done or can be done by you very easily (or by one of the folks here if you have problems).

A little rude perhaps but 80% of the questions/problems in here can be addressed quickly and easily (Hell 50% are probably the same 3 or 4 issues coming around time and again and we can answer those in our sleep). 10% are probably a bit trickier but not impossible for an ordinary user to deal with and the rest need kicking upstairs for staff to deal with (and as there are a number of active employees on here, those with the green borders, this usually isn't a problem).

OK, waiting for the names to be consolidated

No rush (IMDB teaches us all patience), just bump the thread whenever you are ready.

Thanks for the help with my page! I was not the DIT for "Progress", though

Also I've submitted my credit for DIT on "Much Ado About Nothing" several times and it never seems to go through, I am credited as such in the actual movie credits...

OK, so this is you all under one entry*:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3523162/

Interestingly, that isn't a DIT credit, but a camera assistant one. Anyway, IMDB are loath to delete a credit (as the working assumption is that someone had this credit, even if it isn't you) but the usual solution is to find out who it really belongs to and change the credit to point at them. Unfortunately, it isn't out yet, so we can't check (although it might be the ). The only solution is to split this off, which isn't ideal but hopefully when this comes out we can find out who it is and fix it, in the meantime you just need to be vigilant to make sure it doesn't get merged back in again. To do this edit the entry and change the credit to Joe Hedge (II):

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2972476/f...

The credits there seem to be new and are very patchy, so it could be this'll sort itself out without any further intervention. One to keep an eye on.

Also I've submitted my credit for DIT on "Much Ado About Nothing" several times and it never seems to go through, I am credited as such in the actual movie credits...

It is never wise to keep resubmitting - if it hasn't been rejected then it just delays the processing, so best bet is to stop doing that. Instead, grab the latest submission ID and send them a screenshot of the credits using data verification:

http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_ver...

As you are on the credits and you can demonstrate it to the data processing staff then this should be pretty much guaranteed.

* I'm not sure if you've requested it, but you'll want to merge this in too:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5771352/

It might be empty but it helps avoid confusion, confusion can make credits go awry again so it best avoid (and keeps things nice and neat - neat is good).

Emp, since they usually won't reuse a numeral, splitting a credit off would most likely create a Joe Hedge (VIII).

Joe Hedge (VII) is very new and it looks like a camera credit for Next Stop Hollywood (2013) is on the way. It should only be merged (or the credit corrected) if that is "our" Joe Hedge's credit.

So I'm still not getting DIT credit for Much Ado About Nothing (2012), been trying for weeks. Again, my name is in the credits as DIT at the end of the movie...what else can I do besides updating my page, which apparently doesn't work?

You're advice is: "Instead, grab the latest submission ID and send them a screenshot of the credits using data verification:"

I don't understand what "a screenshot of the credits using data verification" means.

When a credit is not being accepted, it is possible to submit evidence. If you have any proof of your credit, such as an image of your credit in the film, you can send it to IMDb's editors using this form:

http://www.imdb.com/helpdesk/data_ver...

Otherwise, there isn't much to do.

I have no idea what you mean by "an image of my credit in the film". Am I supposed to walk into a theater with a camera and shoot a picture of the screen as my name flits by?

If you tried to shoot a picture of the screen in a US theater, you would probably be arrested.

Can you get a copy of the frame with your credits from the producer, his production assistant or someone else associated wit the film?
Can you get a copy of a call sheet with your name and character listed?

There may be other forms of evidence that the IMDb staff could use.

As suggested, you should send any evidence as links in the form mentioned above. Here is a detailed explanation:

So I posted the link to the call sheets 5 days ago at this page, still no change.

I'd really suggest sending them the links to plain image files - sending a link to a zipped file on a download site is probably guaranteed to delay things (if they actually download it, I'm not sure what their policy is on that). Then again 5 days isn't that long, so it might still be in the pipeline.

Can you give the submission IDs you used with the data verification, so staff can check what is going on with the submission?

Perhaps you could offer a suggestion as to how to create "links to plain image files". Do I need to create a web page with the call sheets on it, just so you can look at the call sheets?

That doesn't give me your submission IDs, it only takes me to my messages from the help desk (although I had missed one, so it was helpful for a different reason). You can get the reference numbers from here:

Yep, that's the kind of thing I meant. If you send that in using data verification it should make things easier for staff to check (as they can just look at it, rather than having to click a button, wait for 30 seconds to get the free download, then enter a captcha code, then download the file, virus check it, open it in a folder, dig out the relevant files and then open it up in an image viewing software - if they are allowed to download unsolicited files in the first place), and the easier you make it, the simpler it is for staff to deal with, so, hopefully the quicker they can deal with this.

Frankly, the days of imdbpro as any kind of "reference" (which it really never was) are quickly coming to an end.  I am preparing to migrate (but I have very little patience for a downgrade in usability and upgrade in price!) and unless they quickly change the site (and they show exactly zero willingness to even acknowledge it's not perfect), the number or real "pro"s using the site will trickle down to nothing (which since they are guiding pro users to the free site shouldn't be a surprise!)

Level. Can you please stop adding replies to old, resolved, issues that have nothing to do with your problem? You're confusing people and causing a mess. Look up "internet troll." It's what you're being. Are you proud of that? Would you want that on your resume? Would Mom be proud?

Can you push up your "migration" plans a bit?
