Isolated missing credit orders when I submit cast

I am an experienced contributor who has contributed a lot of data. Very occasionally I find that cast submissions which include a credit order are processed apart from the credit order which remains blank. After waiting a few weeks I resubmit the offending entries (often it's isolated cast members that fail when all the others in the submission succeed) but to no avail.

Here's a list of submission IDs and corresponding data:

I've reported this problem several times over the past few years. Thomas Porter investigated about 2 years ago and was able to get some entries processed, but since then whenever I've asked in the Contributor's Help discussion board, there has been a deafening silence so I'm not sure anyone is actually seeing and acting upon this problem. When I reported it about a year ago in http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/t..., he said that he'd escalate the issues as a priority and keep me posted with progress.

Let's see if this new GetSatisfaction method actually gets the problem resolved...

Hi MartinU -

I've alerted our data staff who will take a look at this issue shortly.

Thanks. Good luck in tracking down the cause - problems that happen once in a blue moon are so much harder to identify than those which happen every time :-)

Are the data staff able to let you know (and hence me, via this thread) when they've fixed the data, so I know when I can remove those submissions from my "not yet published" pile and no longer need to keep checking them.

Hi Martin -

Just to follow-up here, our data managers reviewed the credits you referenced above and have made the applicable corrections.

Unfortunately, they were unable to track down what is causing this problem, so if you have more recent examples (from the last few months) please let us know.

The last time I saw this problem was in April 2013, according to the latest submission ID. I'll keep a watch out for it and if I see another example, I'll let you know. I presume it's helpful to know as soon as I detect it, but I don't want to alert you prematurely to a problem which will go away on its own.

So what's the happy medium? Maybe if I see a situation where *some* credits for a title don't have their credit order updated three (?) days after the rest of the credits in the same submission get corrected, on the basis that all cast order credits in a submission ought to be processed more or less at the same time.

A potential situation (or is it a false alarm?) might be 130610-154214-986000 where all the cast additions have been processed but the cast orders for those added people have not been, and the cast order corrections have not been processed.

Another one - just spotted it after tonight's site updates - is 130615-160341-653000 where credit orders 16, 17 and 18 have not been processed whereas all the rest (either adding order to existing cast or adding new cast) have been processed.

You say that the "data managers reviewed the credits you referenced above and have made the applicable corrections" 10 days ago.

Should the corrected data be visible on the site yet? Because with one exception (for "Lady Killers" (1980) {Miss Elmore (#2.1)}) none of the corrections have been published yet. Will it take the same sort of time as if I had submitted corrections myself (typically 2-3 days) or will it take longer than normal for the corrections that the data managers have made to be visible?

I don't mind waiting longer, but if your data managers are expecting the data to have gone live and it hasn't, they need to be made aware of this in case they need to give things another kick :-)
