I recently tried to login to an account that I've had for nearly 10 years to find out that IMBD is no longer allowing logins with just the IMDB username. The alternative is to login with an email or a facebook account. This wouldn't be a problem if I had access to the email account I used nearly 10 years ago. I had about 1,000 films saved on my watchlist and I have no access to them. If someone could tell me a way to get back on to this profile I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to lose 10 years of aggregated films. My old username was hbash089.

You don't need access to the email to log in with it. You just enter it the same as you would a username and use the same password.

Once you are logged in you can change your email and password and even your username.

Accessing your email has nothing to do with the log in process.

The only time you would need access to your old email account is for password retrieval (until youve input a new email); and thats a problem you would have even if you were logging in with your username and needed to retrieve password.

This was a change that was announced almost a year ago and was warned about every time you logged in for months. And by not keeping your email up to date, you were going to have the same password retrieval problems no matter what words you have to put in the log in box (username or email)

Worst case scenario if you decide you would rather make a new account, if your old lists were public you could search for them and than import it to a new account

I've had a similar problem.

My username and login information was saved by my web-browser, so I never had to bother with signing in. Additionally, because this is an account that was signed up over 10 years ago, I do not possess the email address that was connected to it (I think). Upon realizing that there were changes to IMDb's user policy (something that, because I wasn't connected to that email address, I never got any notifications of) I went to change my profile and update it. In doing so, I was logged out by my web-browser and not allowed back in. Now I've lost my watch list and rating for the past 10 years.

The answer above speaks that this "change... was announced almost a year ago". However, I never received any such announcements and visit the site almost daily.

I've now spend the last hour scouring the message boards for help, but there appears to be no solution to this problem. In the FAQ section they have a link:but this just leads to 404 page error. The fact that IMDb has no support where I can just email them my issue is extremely frustrating. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I'm happy to provide my old username and email address to a member of IMDb support staff, but do not want to post it on a public forum for all to see.

Thanks for the information. The first form you sent me I have sent a message from my new account. The second "special form" does not exist. It has a 404 error.

Hmmm. I tested it before I posted and got the form. I just tried it again and still get the form. I don't know why it's not working for you.

Any way, as long as you gave the information in your message, they should still be able to help you.

When I click the link, while not logged in, I get:
