Jaws should be a horror film

Jaws 3-D (1983) is listed as a horror as well as Jaws: The Revenge (1987). Most reviews refer to it as a horror film.  Both are fear based and contains sensational and suspenseful scenes.  On the Wikipedia page alone there are about 20 references to it being called a horror film. The Birds (1963) for example is of the same nature and it is listed under horror as well as many other examples on the IMDB site.  Read reviews and do a search for the word horror and you'll find that almost every single one of them refer to it as a horror in some way or another over words like drama or even adventure.  You could call this subjective but it makes zero sense to not include this as a horror film.  I think the IMDB staff is way overthinking this.

Now excuse me I have to go watch that drama film Jaws again.  :-/  ???

Because IMDb is inconsistent.

It begs the question of how horrific the content of a movie has to be in order to be considered a part of the horror genre. To be fair, I cannot even begin to explain the inconsistency of perspective on movies featuring great white sharks that hunt and attack human beings or just by happenstance (natural disaster) get a taste of human flesh. Seems like none of them may be horror, or perhaps all of them are. The point that Courtney Olender brought up about Jurassic Park is interesting.

I've always considered Jaws to be a horror film, as it's a rather classic example of a monster movie or creature feature (as is Jurassic Park) in the tradition of Hollywood's beginnings in the genre with King Kong or even Dracula and Frankenstein, and, of course, those films are part of other genres as well: e.g. King Kong is an adventure film; Frankenstein is sci-fi.

Plus, it has many other characteristics of horror movies, such as jump scares, an intense soundtrack and gore.  Heck, an entire generation and more of aquaphobia has been attributed to this one movie.

Jaws is considered as one of the most iconic and influential horror movies of all time. It's on the top 5 of every list of great horror movies ever. If IMDB is not going to add the horror genre to Jaws at least be consistent with this and remove it from movies like Sharknado and all the Jaws sequels too.

Even the Jaws theme song is considered as the most iconic horror theme song...
