So this is the first time I'm coming on here now. I never knew this site existed until I stumbled upon this while frantically searching for ways to stop bullying on IMDB boards.
I've been an IMDB poster for quite a while, I'm also a Jeremy Renner fan. In the midst of feeling talkative, I decided to head over to the Jeremy Renner board and have mature conversations with fellow fans who love his work. Little did I know at the time, that the main posters on there are a bunch of harassing bullies. Certain posters such as Future Robot (formally known as Uncanny, until she was banned 'permanently' by the administrators of IMDB for inciting cruel and vicious remarks over a period of 6 months to other posters on the board), there is also RDMISC (who, like Future, promotes just as much hate and negativity and jumps down the throat of anything positive in that board), and TheMissIsTalking (who is just like those two posters, but just as snarky and vicious).
These three specific posters ALWAYS spread cruel and horrible remarks about Jeremy Renner. They rip apart his personal life and say cruel and vicious things about the mother of his child (that should be grounds for defamation). Any talk about Jeremy's films, interviews, characters, awards...are normally met with cruel and hurtful remarks by these fellow posters. They purposely 'bump' up meaningless threads (by that I mean, threads unrelated to Jeremy, only snarky and mean threads about other posters and hate against the mother of his child), as to wash out the actual conversation done by other fans. In these specific threads (which you can see on his board), they purposely bully posters (by shunning them out and saying mean things) and act like immature high school students. Their bullying has been so bad that they have driven away countless of IMDB Renner fans from the board. That's how bad it is.
These people are meant to be adults. Adults shouldn't be acting like this, let alone bullying posters and overtaking their threads. I've been reporting these vicious threads, but that doesn't seem to stop them. I've tried putting them on ignore, but just the same, they continue to relentlessly bully the other posters for speaking about Jeremy's films, interviews, awards...etc. And just at this moment, they're copying and pasting comments from other boards of Jeremy's films of other posters and bullying them on the Jeremy Renner board. They also use some site called DataLounge, and they continue to be vicious and spread more hate by naming fans of Jeremy Renner (IMDB posters) because they like his work. This is bullying and harassment.
Is there any other way to get this bullying to stop? The boards are meant to be a place to talk about the actors, their films, not to continuously go on a hate campaign and jump down the throat of actual fans who want to talk about him. I really hope the administrators can ban them once and for all. For a board meant to incite fan conversations, it's turned into a bully-fest and anyone with anything nice to say about Jeremy is pummelled to the ground. These people need to be stopped, I don't want other fans to be scared of coming to talk on the Jeremy Renner board. I want them to feel like they can speak about his work without the need of vicious remarks.
Future Robot also makes this remark: "I kinda don't care getting suspended from IMDB: when I appeal I always win." She means that even though she'll get banned for doing the wrong thing, she'll appeal, come back and continue to bully posters who come her way. This needs to be stopped. I hope the administrators heed my request. It's a problem which has been going on for over a couple of years. A lot of us are sick of this and want it back to normal. If someone can help me, I would really appreciate it. I don't want to leave the board. I'll continue to talk about his films and interviews, I'm just sick of being bullied all the time and sick of the cruel and vicious threads on Jeremy Renner and other posters (fans) of Jeremy.

Thing is, there has been mature discussions going on for the past week. Unfortunately, they choose to ignore it and believe that they're only ones who rule the board and therefore anyone not in their 'gang' is invisible.

Staff asks, rather than post links to abuse here (though it helps as others might go throw on an extra abuse report-and, of course, it might inspire staff to go take a look..we hope), that you use the report abuse system and then ignore list.
Rather than looking at it that ignore is not taking any action, but it's really taking the only action that works with internet trolls. If no one is reacting to their silliness, they get bored and move along. The only proven "action" to take is ignoring.
Further, using the report abuse button, rather than posting messages about it, allows the system to track their abuse and account status. With "authentication," there are disciplinary steps to go through before an account is disabled. You mentioned someone said they "appeal and win" but there is no appeal process and staff won't listen to their appeal. They'll only point to the Terms and Conditions of the site and leave disciplinary steps they've taken in place. You also mentioned someone was "permanently" blocked, but that doesn't happen either. Authentication is removed, disabling the account. They can, though, re-authenticate with a new ID. The theory is, they'll either run out of ID's or get tired of re-authenticating and either behave appropriately or stop using the boards.
My suggestion is to report/ignore and go on with your life. Stressing over people behaving badly isn't worth it.

Bluesman: you are incorrect that appealing a disaplinary action such as account suspension is ignored: when my account was frozen I contacted the email account listed in terms of usage page; I attached screen shots sample of my postings for which i started keeping after a user had threatened to have me booted off on a thread and compared my disagreable comments against what is deemed harrassment in Terms of Use. A month later I received a blind email notifying me that i am able to reinstate my account creds however my past deleted posts cannot be retreived. Grievences are reviewed and acted on my case. In my case I tangled with someone on a thread who didn't like my review of a movie. I see that there's two sides to this issue and that people use the report function far to liberally when they don't like what they read. Sillyness.

Why can't you speak like this on the boards? This is more civil then what you normally write. If you were much nicer then everyone would be getting along fine.
I am sorry but you are confusing me with your aversary. I found this discussion by searching for advice on how to report unwelcoming PMs and felt compelled to react. I will not allow to be a target so I have said my two cents and will take leave back to my original issue on this community board.
It is about time someone stands up to these disgusting comments. I can only imagine what they must look like sitting behind their computers. To be that envious of a beautiful young girl and her family.

Thanks for those threads - it can be difficult assessing a situation without having to go through ever thread. I did read some of those whilst skimming through and looking at your other examples, I don't really think there is a big problem, certainly nothing which is reportable.
Quite a few threads on there seem off-topic (and I'd not lose any sleep over them being deleted), but mainly it just seems to be people saying things you disagree with. Quite a few of the more negative discussion of him seem to stem from interviews he's given where he doesn't necessarily paint himself in the best light:

It seems to be a classic example of the kind of the kind of "he said, she said" disagreements that mean mediating disputes on IMDB would be almost impossible - hence the partly automated system and staff not discussing deletions and sanctions.
It is also a perfect situation where report and ignore should be deployed. If you don't like their posts/threads, then ignore them.

On my own behalf, I would like to state how IMDB posters, like this one who continue to claim how I am "bullying" them - are the same who (in a team mob fashion) choose to post my personal identity/information and IMDB ID on various external websites, including interviews conducted by Jeremy Renner on CNN and Elle websites.

Those actions are egregious bullying violations of privacy - and yet they continue.
I have on many occasions advised these fans to use the ignore feature and/or choose to express their views on the topic in an adult fashion.
In addition, there are several threads where other participants have expressed their objections to their violations and bullying reporting without cause. There has been continuous advice provided to them showcasing a right to freedom of speech, a right to an opinion, a right to "agree to disagree", a right to apologize and delete something where someone may have been offended.
I have on several occasions stated an apology and deleted where another found what I wrote offensive. I am not above. However, at no time has this poster attempted to discuss with me either privately or publically where/what/why they may have felt offended on any of my posts.
Instead, IMDB posters, like this one, continue to visit various other public websites slandering IMDB participants and violating their private information. This is bullying, offensive, slanderous and threatening to me.
Over this last week, the same "fans" as the one who posted here, launched another "reporting" campaign. There are 6 of us who have been reported. For what? An opinion? A post with an emoticon waving? A choice to bump up topics we feel are relevant?
Therein is the bullying and unfairness of this "complaint" by this poster.
We all have a right to our opinions. One does not have to agree. The Ignore button is there for a reason. Or, one can choose to simply disregard the posted opinion. Or, one can choose to post their own opinion and argument.
Jeremy Renner's public statements and actions - his choice - allows the public to comment (good or bad). It's his choice to present himself in a manner that alters the narrative. The commentary positive or negative are based on his public displays, actions, interviews, choices. He could have chosen to present himself differently and kept all of his private life unavailable for discussion.
There are dedicated Jeremy Renner fan websites that cater to the ongoing positive only perspectives and discussions of this actor. Perhaps this poster's views are better suited for those sites where there is no other opposing view to their own.

A couple things. Hanging out where you know there will be fans, just to post negative "opinion" is a silly thing to do. Of course you're going to offend people when doing so and whether you are/aren't, I don't care, but it's the thing "trolls" would do. So, no surprise you get taken that way.
Just another point...there is no "right to freedom of speech." Especially here in a private place like IMDb. I don't know why but people have heard the term and think it means you can/should say anything you want, whenever you want, to whomever you want. There is no such thing.
I agree with you that ignore list is in order in what you are describing. But, common sense should also be used when posting.

What is negative opinion and why is not allowed on a movie board? A disagreement over a movie ? Critiquing an actor's behavior on or off the movie screen? As long as noone is threatening harm or blatant and targeted inappropriate language towards someone's race, ethnicity or orientation to another poster (which quite frankly I didn't see that in the links provided) I think one really need to understand the terms of usage before making false or exaggerated charges to IMDB admins. I see this as a huge overreaction and unfortunately its all over IMDB. Lack of civility or manners in disagreement does not automatically classify hate speech nor is it bullying per IMDB's terms. Why not just put the user on 'ignore'?
I never put it on the boards, it was done by Future to invite more hatred. Never said anything about racism, orientation, death threats...

I humbly suggest you rethink why you take other's posts about this actor, even if they are rude or sarcastic, so personally upon yourself. As a fan you are not responsible to control how other people respond to his actions on and off the screen. Honestly I think this is what this complaint is about. You are not happy seeing a celebrity you admire spoken about in a negative light.

I have read the comments about Jeremy Renner's family . It is disgusting to so say the least. I have seen it the comments on other sites that profess to be Fans. There is NO freedom of speech when Cyber bullying and Harassment is involved. I will back up this article 100 percent. I hope IMBD takes every comment off. If I was Renner's camp, I would fight for that.
