Simply a follow up to Jen's great post; there were getting to be so many pages in that one I thought it could use a refresh.  Happy to carry on the tradition!

BTW, that gif up there wasn't meant to be offensive or anything... it was just the first "regressing" gif that came up.  I'm sorry if it came off like an insult or something.

ANYWAYS, back to the original point of this thread... oh yeah, rating movies.

K-On! (2009-2010), season 2: 10/10.

I watched the final episode this afternoon and am already wistful for an unlikely third season of the band in their college years (as our four bandmates had graduated back in 2010, heading to the same college).

This may be my finest (and of course unacknowledged - social media wise) internet creation.

Fitting this article came out a couple of days ago, indicating that the high school which the series was built around was turned into a museum for the series and how the series help save the small rural town from fading into utter economic ruins.

Next (2007) (Rewatch)

About the same as I had remembered it. Easily the worst of the P.K. Dick cinematic adaptations - and I have seen most of them - especially considering the high budget & star cast.

Rating: 6/10 (unchanged)

50 First Dates, 5/10.  Some very funny parts scattered throughout some very un-funny parts.  Also, how come the best performances in Adam Sandler movies don't come from Adam Sandler?
The real props go to Sean Astin and Blake Clark.

Senyuu (2013– ), 26 bite-size* parody episodes on Crunchyroll/VRV. Janky animation, fitting its likely very small budget. 7/10. Pretty absurdly funny.

*About 3 minutes long. 4 and a half if you include the earnest ED/close credit song as well as @30 second previous episode recap (though to be fair - the animation in the recap keeps changing as a constant visual joke).

This shouldn't be your gateway series into anime. Too many tropes to handle.

The Vast of Night (2019), charming, clever and creepy indie throwback to 50's science fiction and the Twilight Zone.
9/10. Streaming free on Amazon Prime.

The chemistry between the two leads Sierra McCormick's Fay Crocker and Jake Horowitz's Everett is the best part.

I cannot say I'm familiar with Saturn 3. The trailer makes it a marginally polished* Alien knockoff.

*Keeping the bar relatively low of course. https://www.imdb.com/poll/ls069412457/

The (9/10) was for the troll it is more like (5/10). But in that case, that doesn't mean that the movie is not worth watching.

Like Nothing but Trouble, this movie is only worth watching because it is bad. Those movies while being very bad are easy to re-watch.

Arranging the Buffet Supper (1946)
 short film, 1/10.
Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon (1942), 2/10. Basil Rathbone is a terrible Sherlock Holmes. All of the ones I've seen with him are painfully boring. Thankfully, Mary Jo Pehl and Bridget Nelson make them infinitely more watchable. 10/10 for their Rifftrax commentary.

UMM? Surprise! They also did the commentary track for the short as well.

Cabaret 1972 - 8/10

The movie is about as the title suggest Cabaret. The music and songs are very good. It is witty and funny. The sub plot of teaching English seems useless. It has good underlying social and political themes which is great.

Beginners 2019 - 8/10

An emotional ride. There 2 parallel tracks in the movie and you would keep on thinking which one do you most root for. The storytelling and acting is amazing.

A Room with a View 1985 - 7/10

The story of a young girl who falls in love with a guy on a vacation and then need to confront the realities of her usual life trying to move on. The cinematography is good including several scenes showing beuty of Italy and Country side. I think 7.5 would have been my rating, if I could.

Boyz n the Hood 1991 - 7/10

It is about a boy who faces harsh way of living in the community with violence and guns around. The depiction of characters is good and shows the life of teenagers and how they try to become a man. But, the story seems predictable and after a point you know what is going to happen next.

A bunch of short films from not directly listed on Pencho's We Are One World Film Festival poll.

L'Heure de L'Ours AKA And Then The Bear. Neat little animated short film: 7/10. NSFW Stylized animation but not much else.
The Distance Between Us and the Sky (2019): 7/10. NSFW
White Echo (2019), 5/10. Chloe Sevigny vanity project turned meh music video. Maybe a concept film for a future meh feature-length horror film.
The Battle of San Romano (2017), 6/10. For a two minute animated short, it has the audacity to loop a bit too much animation.
The Procession (2019), 8/10. Very stylized animation short from animators, one who is working on the art department of the latest Wes Anderson film, The French Dispatch (2020).
The One-Minute Memoir (2020), a 16 minute anthology of microshort animated films (a minute or so long). 8/10. Some meh and a bit too experimental or functionally resume filler others pretty darn good and clever.

8/10 for this glorious crap.
Absolutely frickin' hilarious...

Mystery Science Theater 3000 (TV Series) Bloodlust! (1961) episode. 1/10 for the movie (must have been a rewatch long time ago as the film was already rated. 9/10 for the MST3k episode.

1/10 for the short educational film before the movie: Uncle Jim's Dairy Farm (1960)

And yes. That's Mr. Brady seen here cheating on Carol Brady. He's such a slut.

Hannibal (8/10)

The most impressive is Mads Mikkelsen is performance, it is hard to be as good as Anthony Hopkins. Mads Mikkelsen has done it!!!

Surprisingly, he has not won an Oscar yet. He would have been nominated for Casino Royale and Jagten. I hope that this decade is his, he deserves it.

Plus, he is very fan-friendly, each Friday he picks a fan art from one of his fans and posts it on social media.

Even after all his success at Hollywood, he takes the time to make low-budget authentic movies.

The Hole (2001)

Surprisingly competent turn-of-the-millennium British teen thriller.

Features a fifteenish year old pre-fame Keira Knightley in a supporting role. Perhaps I'm guilty of 20-20 hindsight, but her performance seems to foreshadow her potential to become an A-lister.

RiffTrax: Day of the Animals, 6/10.
Funny riff, awful movie, as usual.
Plot: A racist Leslie Neilsen calls people "hotshot," then goes crazy (along with some animals), goes shirtless, screams at kids, shoves old ladies, kills a man, attempts to rape a woman, then gets hugged/killed by a bear.
Wow.
