Simply a follow up to Jen's great post; there were getting to be so many pages in that one I thought it could use a refresh. Happy to carry on the tradition!

Chasing Amy 1997 - 7/10
The movie talks about relationships, friendship, LGBTQ+ and speaks at a greater length about those. I feel a little problem was it speaks about them, but don't show or make you feel enough.
Get Out 2017 - 8/10
It deals with discrimination and racism in the modern world and that through a horror element. The whole concept is quite good.
The Magnificent Seven 1960 - 7/10
The movie is good on it's own, the lead actors are good except the character Chico. In comparison to Seven Samurai, this movie translates the basic idea very well. I missed Kikuchiyo a lot, that was I think the main character among Samurai's and this movie skips that character!!
The Ten Commandments 1956 - 8/10
It was long, but it was worth it. After watching The Message a while back, I was interested in watching something like this. This is very much there with famous movies like, Spartacus and Ben-Hur.
Gattaca 1997 - 8/10
A very unique concept - Children mostly born via surrogacy with a perfect gene and those born naturally are In-Valid and their struggle in a perfect world. The drama is presented in a commendable way.

American Made (2017) (6/10)
It is an enjoyable movie, with a really dynamic directing, but unfortunately, it doesn't innovate.
The movie would have been way better if it was able to separate from the influence of its predecessors like Lord of War and The Big Short.
The cast, in general, is playing decently, but there is zero nuance or facial expression most of the time, and the intervention "Barry Seals" when he is breaking the fourth wall are pretty useless to the plot itself, he is commenting on something that we already saw or understood.
It is not particularly a movie that I would recommend except if you want to look at all the filmography of Tom Cruise.

Terrifier (2016) (1/10)
I'm rating movies on IMDb, not slasher so the amount of blood is wasn't a criterion in my rating.
This is simply better explained like a grocery list
1) The performances are bad except for David Howard Thornton who was doing a decent job. (1/10)
2) The story is nonexistent (0/10)
3) Almost every character is useless to the story, they are only here to bring more blood. (0/10)
4) The suspense is nonexistent most of the time (0/10)
5) The jumpscares are non-existent ((4/10) that is a good thing)
6) The movie is not terrifying. On my horror-meter no more than a (3/10)
Total: 8/60
Percentage of what I expected: 1.3%

Some of the best child performances that I have seen recently, you almost the impression that they aren't acting.
The relationships between are well explored and nuanced by the director, Hirokazu Koreeda, and not a single minute of the runtime is wasted on unnecessary character motivation explanation, the smart directing can
make you deduce by yourself what is going on on the mind of the protagonists
A truly well-deserved Palme-d'Or, shocking that this movie didn't get more recognition in the occident.

Ooh, The Walk is good, and so is Terminator: Genisys and Fate of the Furious (in my opinion).
Right now I'm working on What Lies Beneath, and then I think I'm done, xD

An Oscar winner and two Golden Globe nominees (Cybill Shepherd, Martin Landau, Raymond Burr) walk into a terrible science-fiction film by infamous schlockmeister, Greydon Clark.
The Return (1980): Close Encounters of the Third Kind meets The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Meets Sweeney Todd/Upton Sinclair's The Jungle with a dash of 2001?!
One of the best Rifftrax commentary track in quite a while. Dems rotten low hanging fruit picked just right. 1/10 for the movie.

Stephen Atwood, I saw The Return (1980) once on a TV and then searched for 20 years to even know the title. Stumbled upon it by accident last year thanks to Cecil Trachenburg and his coverage.
It's not a perfect movie, but it has a very original, if somewhat half-baked concept. I love hybrid oddities and this, as a sci-fi slasher about alien abductions, still delivers. Not to mention that Vincent Schiavelli was never once bad in the movie.

No Retreat, No Surrender... movie: I'm actually giving it 4 stars because it is pretty hilarious on it's own, particularly RJ. The RiffTrax: 9/10. One of the best I've seen in a while.

Patriot Games (1992) (6/10)
This movie is enjoyable, but it becomes hard to separate this one from the others Harrison Ford's action flicks.
As I said below, the is no real ambition, they rebooted a very successful character with a very successful actor, they also used a very conventional style of directing.
Plus, it is simply another unnecessary movie depicting the United States has a hero. Honestly, the title didn't make false promises, it is called Patriot Games, and it perfectly describes this movie.
Despite what I mentioned below, Harrison Ford is according to me to the best interpretation of Jack Ryan, he is charismatic and has well-written dialogues.

In Time (2011)
Nice concept, blasé execution.
I wonder how many people who viewed the film realised the "futuristic dystopian Time-Capitalism" portrayed here is no different in essence from what we have now.

Crawl, 4/10. In a word: alligators!! Very intense and not something I'd watch again (especially since it combines swimming, storms, and big scary creatures, my three greatest fears), but it has a "happy ending" and the characters don't give up.
What Lies Beneath, 7/10. 6 and a half is more like it, but I rounded to 7. Slow, Lifetime-esque start that is rewarded with an intense final act; Harrison Ford is creepy as f*ck, and it's a well done take on the horror genre that feels quite Hitchcock-ian. Robert Zemeckis' involvement probably has a lot to do with its quality.

Limelight (1952) (7/10)
This movie is great, I liked the music and the cinematography.
Unfortunately, there is not much to say about this movie except that it is clearly an homage to Chaplin's career.

D-Railed, 2/10. I mean, I appreciate the effort, and the plot is imaginative (sounds like something I'd come up with, honestly)... but the result is barely mediocre. Our leading lady tries, but the cheapness of the film swallows her whole, much like the creatures of the story. The worst thing, though, is the end credits, whose music and visuals make you think, "Wait, I was supposed to take this seriously?"

Crossing Swords (2020- ), season 1 on Hulu: 7/10. Trashy, campy, and crass animated fantasy series. Kind of fun and really easy to digest.
Amanchu! (TV Series 2016– ), season 1: low stakes, slice-of-life comfort food. 8/10.
Perhaps one of the ugliest cat designs in animation.
I wonder if Pikari has Tourette's Syndrome.

I'm mad at Hereditary
1) Total rip-off of The Shining's camera turns, but they use it in every damn shot.
2) I don't care about the useless highschool life teenager, it is pointless for the movie.
3) Who the hell decided to cut the burning scene and the decapitations scene, they wanted to attract a younger audience, and they decided to cut all the potentially gory elements to please the MPAA. UGHHHHHHHH
4) Why did they hire Tony Colette, she should have continued to play in cheap Christmas movies (such a bad actress).

"Hereditary:

We may share similar feelings about this critically praised horror film, but ... WOW! Are you far off here. It's an independent film from A24. It's hardly a Hollywood feature. One major contention I have against your critique is that Tony Collette could have easily been nominated for this role. The older son gave a damn Razzie worthy turn.
"2) I don't care about the useless highschool life teenager, it is pointless for the movie."
It's their film to make. If you don't like that perspective, then don't watch it.
I gave the film a 4/10. Much of the scenes were laugh out loud worthy, including the major decapitation scene where stupidity was the major cause of the incident. The brother could have easily called for an ambulance instead of recklessly driving home for his sister's meds.

I have put off watching this movie, despite its respectable rating and reviews for a long time... something about the Plot Synopsis gave me a feeling that it would be lame.
(I had the same feeling about Eternal Sunshine.. which was released like 16 years ago... when I eventually attempted to watch it, it was as bad as I had imagined.)
Not gonna watch Hereditary.

I watched this recently and rated 9. It is one of the best musical movie I have ever seen. The dark comedy theme and still making it lively enough.
Emir Kusturica's Underground is another such movie.

Hazbin Hotel (TV Series 2019– ), a studioless attempt at an adult-targeted mature, musical animated series. So far, there's only the pilot which was insanely popular on YouTube. Difficult to rate. Wildly wacky character design and great voice acting. If it hadn't had 35M views on YouTube, I wonder how it managed to not be demonetized (and there were more ad breaks than most YouTube videos I've watched).

Exactly. I couldn't agree more, especially the mysoginy comment: https://m.imdb.com/review/rw2701927/
And please, don't get me started on the so-called feminist undertones just because Hepburn plays a very strong and outspoken character. If one thing, the film proves (and quite realistically) that a woman can be as strong, as bossy, as a bully as a man IF she's rich. It attacks the core of feminism, which is the perpetual antagonism between men and women by showing that it's only a matter of rich vs. poor. It's funny how the film works better as a social commentary, and it's only by realizing that she wouldn't live with a man who'd prevent her from freedom by letting her drink and loosen up, that Tracy goes with the rich guy, of course, only rich can afford to be decadent.

Honestly, if you want to enjoy this movie watch the first 30 min, but nothing more.

Midnight Run 1988 - 8/10
One of the best comedy duo De Niro and Grodin. The chemistry, banter is on the spot.
My Left Foot 1989 - 8/10
Daniel Day-Lewis show all the way. Painful, yet has it's funny moments. The supporting cast supports very well.
The Name of the Rose 1986 - 8/10
Very intriguing and the whole setup for period drama makes it more believable. It's your medieval Sherlock-Watson pair.
A Grand Day Out 1989 - 8/10
A grand outing to the moon. Fun watch.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off 1986 - 8/10
Comedy was the only genre, I was missing out from Hollywood and this is just feeding in that. The unique thing about this is that evil wins in a way, but you still like it.
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe 1991 - 8/10
Just like the title, it is unique. Both actress playing Idgy does their bit satisfactorily. It is a true feminist movie.
