John Persitz's credit

I was watching Better Call Saul tonight when I noticed that John Persitz is credited under "production managers" as "Production Staff". (He's uncredited in Better Call Saul). Staff is pretty much the complete opposite of managers. I was going to go fix it up for Better Call Saul but then when I saw his page, almost of his credits are under "production managers" with a job title of "production staff". There are way too many for me want to correct but can an employee go fix this page? He has some "post production" credits as well and those should probably be in the "editorial department".

Adrian.
Did you look at the extent of those credits?
He has 1000-2000 total credits, from the 108 title credits!
All of this in a short span of time!
It looks really fishy.....
Be willing to bet that if someone were to random check a few titles that he'd be nowhere to be found.
Now check this out. He worked at three different P.C.'s in 2019 on these three titles along with holding down approximately 19 other Production jobs simultaneously on other projects.
See these three....from 2019.....

Not a match in these 3.
Nope!
This guys complete history is suspect.

I noticed that he had a ton of credits and they were mostly new and mostly wrong (i.e. "Production Staff" versus "production staff".) He's credited as "production staff" on the new "Party of Five" but "Party of Five" credits their production staff (or at least key members), so I'm beginning to believe this is a person seeking to boost their position in the industry with a bunch of fake credits.

Alas, if we had someone who could validate these credits.....

IMDb could look at the time span of the addition of the credits. Normally you would be adding them as time goes by as you are working on projects.

Be willing to bet that they all came in in batches of multiple submissions per show. Knocking off one show at a time. And grouping them or submitting them in a predictable pattern.

Hi Adrian
He works for a music company called JTN Music that supplied services to all those shows he is credited with. Some well known music composers work for that company and all have IMDB pages and some legit onscreen credits, but still I'm betting this guy has little to no onscreen credits and while his fellow staff are all in the Music Department, I'm not sure what this guy does but he's definitely in the wrong place.
This is the guy who runs that company, his initials, you see.

Hope this info is of some use.

Jon.
Thanks.
Be willing to bet that while the company he works for may have some involvement, but he himself probably did not. The credits are all more than likely all uncredited. Just because you get paid and work for someone and they are involved does not necessarily mean that you had direct involvement. It would be the same if a limo driver that works for a transportation company that had a contract with a production company, and that driver never transported a single solitary person on that production, claiming by association to that company that he is somehow deserving a credit just because his company has.

No ......this person has no claim to any credit on those productions. The company he works for does. He would need proof of participation by way of documentation just to get an uncredited designation.

IMDb should wipe his credits and allow for a reapplication to restore after proof has been properly verified.

I know for certain he isn't credited on El Camino or last weeks episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Unicorn but some other people from JTN are. Anyway I submitted a fix to the credits to make the occupations all lower case, whatever gets decided regards deleting or moving them at least that is done, give it a few hours to reflect if it hasn't already. I'll bow out now and wish you the best with it.

WHAT?
If you have seen the titles in question and see NO accreditation and all your doing is a change to lower case!?
Where is your attribute addition/submission as uncredited?
If you know a fact to be true then you should submit those facts to the database.
Or are you like a lot of people around here that are afraid to make any submission that might be rejected, out of fear that IMDb may slow down your processing of submissions because of those rejections?

Hi Ed.
Until Adrian has a response from staff on whether the credits stay up or are moved elsewhere, i won't spend the time checking over a 1000 end credits and adding uncredited to them as it would take several days for me to do so and it could be for nothing and I already have a mountainous backlog of new data to add to the site as is.
I already helped out in two different ways here and felt insulted for it at the end.
Also If I marked them all as uncredited it would be 100% accepted as I'm trusted, but it would also be assumptive on my part as I only viewed  3 things. I never do anything without visual proof of fact. But I will add the attribute to the  3 things I looked at, now I've had a good sleep and got my real life work out the way.
Now as this place is winding down, this will be my last post.
I wish you all well and happy contributing.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for looking into this and as always thank you for contributing.

I would ask in future that if you do see a credit that you know is not reflected in the end credits for the title please submit a delete for it. We are actively investigating this now, so if you're aware of any other relevant info please let me know.

Hope to see you continuing to support IMDb!

Note to staff:
According to Jon Tomlinson above....

Hi Adrian
He works for a music company called JTN Music that supplied services to all those shows he is credited with.

A production staff credit, which is what every single one of his credits are is not a "music dept.' credit which is where "all" his credits belong.

He's not in production, he is in music.

Every single credit needs to be removed.

Hello all,

Just to let you know that we're actively looking into this now and trying to confirm credit authenticity. Thanks to Adrian for initially pointing this out and to everyone else for adding the supporting information. If anyone else has watched anything that Jon Persitz has credited himself in and knows he is not in then please submit a delete and comment below as this will help us massively.

Thanks again everyone, please bear with us while we investigate!

This is an interesting new position for IMDb (or at least it appears to be move). This may be Baader-Meinhof, but I literally see Persitz credited on every show. I had been deleting them out of production manager credits but adding them to other crew as uncredited.

If we delete people that aren't in television credits, the entire art department for most episodes will disappear. I generally see around 5-10 credits there and they are usually all uncredited.

I don't have the time now, but later, I'll go through my submissions to see what shows I've moved Persitz out of production managers.

Good point Adrian - people are absolutely able to set themselves as having done uncredited work on a project. However in this instance Jon has not put himself down as uncredited and does not appear in the credits of some of the shows he has said he worked on. This is possibly a mistake on his part, but the credits as they stand are not factual, so our policy is that they should be amended to what they actually are or deleted.

There's also no evidence he should be credited even with an uncredited attribute. We're currently investigating and will update you in future when we have news.

This is the point I was making earlier. Mr Persitz is using credit by association, not by participation. And as Grayson and I have stated, this is not accurate, and is not IMDb policy.

Grayon,

I deleted over 700 of Jon Persitz's credits off of shows I know he's not credited on and there's no evidence he worked on. However, those credits are now back on the site again. The contribution was 200418-213841-918000. All of those credits are back on his page. Why were the re-additions approved?

What action was taken as he seems to still have all these credits and whenever I delete them, they get added back within a few days.

Hey Adrian,

Thanks for getting back to us.

It looks like a block wasn't put in place here - I've removed the credits and have taken the appropriate steps to try and stop this from happening again.

Please let us know if anything more crops up!

Joel
